Eye Candy Friday: Nick McCall

This week’s Eye Candy Friday is coming a little late because I couldn’t make up my damn mind on who I wanted to feature this week.

Nick McCall is an FBI special agent in A Lot Like Love by Julie James. He won me over throughout this book because he was funny, he was protective as crap and I loved his gruff nature.

His sense of humor is all over this book and he was a huge reason why I loved this book so much. He’s actually my favorite hero out of all of the heroes in this series. He’s that lovable jerk that you can’t help but want.

He said things like this that cracked me up:

“Jack leaned over, “Ever get the impression that these women are way out of our league?”

“I shot the last guy who said that to me.”

He thought things like this that just kept right on making me love him:

“Nick watched as Jordan sipped her wine and made The Face- the seductive, the hell-with-wine-you-should-see-what-I-look-like-having-sex face. At least that was how he interpreted it.

Watching her with a predatory gaze, the douchebag grinned.

Apparently, he had a similar interpretation of The Face.

Something inside Nick snapped.

That was his fake girlfriend in there. Sitting at the table where they had just shared cheese fries the night before. And if she thought she could throw scorching hot sex-looks to any pansy-ass scarf-boy who wandered into her shop, she had another thing coming.

He had a look of his own to show the douchebag.

It was time to break out the don’t-fuck-with-me-face.”

And then he said things like this, that made me want him to choose me. Love me. Haha, sorry got my Meredith Grey on there for a minute.

“He gripped her shoulders determinedly. ‘I should’ve told you this earlier, Jordan. Now that I’ve got my chance, you’re going to hear it whether you like it or not. You came into my life and messed the whole thing up and now I’m screwed. Because I’m in love with you. As in balls-out, head-over-heels, watching-Dancing-with-the-Stars-on-Monday-nights, wine-and-bubble-bath kind of love. Hell, I think I’d even wear a scarf indoors for you.”

Nick is reason enough to check out this book but I promise the book is just as great as he is. Julie James has a really great knack of writing smart romances with fantastic characters and Nick is just one of the many reasons I love her stuff. Nick is the kind of hero that we all read romances for. He’s strong, he’s protective and he loves with all that he is and that’s only a small part of why he’s this week’s Eye Candy Friday.
