Top 5 Wednesday: Current Favorites that Aren’t Books

T5W Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey at Ginger Reads Lainey but is hosted by Sam at Thoughts on Tomes. You can read more about this meme on the Goodreads Group here. This weeks topic is: Current Favorites that Aren’t Books
Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from books and talk about some other things you’ve been obsessed with. These all don’t have to be in the same category. Mix it up! What TV shows have you been enjoying, makeup you’ve been wearing, food you’ve been eating, etc.??
I’m going out of order this month since I skipped last week’s and am going to skip next week’s prompt and instead do this week’s prompt, next week that way I can come back the following week and be all caught up. If that makes any sense. I took a break from this feature for the last part of last year and then last month as well but I’m hoping to get back on the Top 5 Wednesday train this month. Wish me luck on that. 1. Shooter on USA Network.
SHOOTER is USA Network’s new conspiracy thriller based on the best-selling novel “Point of Impact” by Stephen Hunter, and the 2007 Paramount film starring Mark Wahlberg. Starring Ryan Phillippe, the series follows the journey of Bob Lee Swagger, a highly-decorated veteran who is coaxed back into action to prevent a plot to kill the President. When Swagger’s former commanding officer Isaac Johnson solicits his expertise in a clandestine operation, Swagger discovers that he has been framed and must do everything in his power to protect his family and clear his name.
I have binge watched the shit out of Season 1 of this show. I think I watched the entire season in 2, maybe 3 days but you guys, it’s so good. Ryan Phillippe plays Bobby Lee Swagger and the TV Show is a bit different from the movie. While I liked the movie, I’m enjoying the show more. 2. Happy Planners from Me and My Big Ideas. I’ve become a happy planner addict. I have lost count of how much time I’ve spent watching Plan with Me, Weekly and Monthly Fip Throughs videos on YouTube and all in an effort to find inspiration for my own happy planner. I also spend quite a bit of time on IG, looking at everyone’s planner spreads. I have been become quite the sticker and washi tape hoarder and every week, I look forward to digging right back into my craft baskets to decorate the heck out of my planners. I blame Ames for enabling my planner addiction but I also blame Nick and Nereyda for always posting pictures of their bullet journals because they all make me want to play around with my planner. Brenna likes to roll her eyes when I tell her that we need to stop by Michaels or when she sees me going through my washi tape stash, preparing to decorate my planner pages and I don’t even care, I love this shit and I’m so here for it. 3. Hydro Flask. I love my hydro flask. In an effort to drink more water this year, I got a hydro flask because I liked the look of them and I also liked that they kept my water cold all day. I don’t like room temperature water and I hate warm water so if I want to get anywhere with my drink more water goal, it’s gotta be cold water out of this hydro flask. I have this exact one with the straw and I have small purple one that I use for hot beverages and I love that my hot chocolate, tea or whatever hot beverage I’m drinking stays hot for hours and hours. This is the best. 4. Riverdale on The CW.
A subversive take on Archie and his friends, exploring small town life, the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade.
I’ve been watching this show since the first episode aired and I’m digging it. This is the show that will fill the slot that Vampire Diaries leaves and I’m pretty stoked to keep going. I like that this is a darker take on the Archie comics and Luke Perry is on it. That gets all of the yesses from my past tween Dylan McKay loving heart. I like that in this darker version of the Archie comics, Betty and Veronica are going to be best friends instead of enemies. I like that the love triangle will be a lot more dramatic because of that. I’m not going to lie, I’m shipping Archie and Betty. That scene with them in front of Betty’s house in the pilot? Hit me right in the feels. I can’t wait to see their slow burn. I’m also looking forward to all of the sleuthing that will be going on and getting to know Jughead more. I’m also looking forward to the demise of Archie’s super creepy affair with Ms. Grundy. 5. MAMBI Value Pack Stickers from Me and My Big Ideas. I cannot get enough of these things. There are quite a few sticker books to collect and I’m working on getting them all. I can’t help myself. I love adding stickers to my weekly and monthly planning spreads and goodness, they’re just so super cute. There are plenty to choose from too. They have a color-coordinated sticker books, a Mom sticker book, a teacher sticker book. You name it, they have a sticker book for it and I’m pretty sure there will be more to release as well. They have awesome quote stickers and just all around pretty stickers. I can’t get enough of these things. What are some of your favorite things that aren’t books?

I’m having a blast with my planner. I will probably never not paper plan again. 🙂

Yes, Riverdale is a great show.

  1. Yes Riverdale!! I’m so loving the show even though it’s not my kind of show at all. Seriously, I really need that Miss Grundy and Archie thing to go away. It’s creepy and annoying. Looking forward to more Jughead too! 🙂
I always see Happy Planner’s around YT so I’m intrigued. I only use a very simple planner, but thank goodness for it! 🙂

LOL, I know right? It’s a lot darker than your normal Archie comics but I’m digging it. Ugh, Grundy needs to go somewhere with her creepy self.

I can’t draw for beans and I can’t write big so I need stickers and washi tape to decorate and the happy planner feeds those needs for me. It’s so much fun!

I do! I hate the teacher/student storylines. I wish they’d do away with those permanently. I looked her character up on IMDB and….she’s only on two more episodes and then she’s gone. Yay!

It’s one of those guilty pleasure shows because it follows around a bunch of teenagers but I can totally tell it’s going to turn into a Scooby Doo adventures type of show and I’m so here for it. Haha.

  2. That is so neat about the planner. Having a creative and fun planner is so fun. I recently got hooked on bullet journaling and I love how adaptive and fun it can be. I have been looking for a good water bottle, so I will have to try out the hydro, would be good for my runs.

I’m so addicted to my happy planner, it’s kind of sad. My daughter thinks I’m such a nerd because of how happy I get when I see washi tape in the store. I’m hooked!

I highly recommend the hydro flask. It’s great!

  3. I blame Nick and Nereyda for all of my stationery purchases and my new found planner love. It’s hard not to when they make it seem so fun! I am finding I own way more pens than necessary, I’ve even started taking things to work just so I don’t feel bad about buying all the things. And I was watching Shooter too and for some reason I’ve gotten behind I’ll have to play catch up as I have been enjoying watching. I love the sound of the Hydro Flask. I’m always trying to drink more water so that sounds like a great way to try and stay hydrated.

Nick and Nereyda are responsible for a lot of the stuff that I buy. Planner stuff, books, even makeup. I love their blog but my bank account probably doesn’t. Ha!

Yes, finish Shooter before the new season starts. It’s so good and I’m completely obsessed.

The hydro flask really keeps me hydrated for sure. I try to drink at least two entire bottles a day and so far, I’m doing pretty darn good. Good luck!
