Week in Review (60)

Posted July 17, 2017 by Rowena in Features | 7 Comments

Brenna is in Colorado right now and I have a lot more time than I know what to do with. I’ve been spending a lot of time hanging out with my friends and am really enjoying being in their company and just doing things that we haven’t done in ages. We tried the banana pudding at Magnolia Bakery that I’ve been bugging everyone to try with me. We’ve done a lot of walking at the beach and watching street shows and eating street food in Downtown L.A. We’ve done a lot of L.A. touristy things and I’m having a blast. I miss my kid like crazy though. I can’t wait for her to come home.

What I’m Currently Reading

The Duchess Deal (Girl Meets Duke #1) by Tessa Dare

When girl meets Duke, their marriage breaks all the rules…

Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury’s to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne’er-do-wells by night. Now there’s a new item on the list. He needs an heir—which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar’s daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she’ll do.

His terms are simple:

– They will be husband and wife by night only.
– No lights, no kissing.
– No questions about his battle scars.
– Last, and most importantly… Once she’s pregnant with his heir, they need never share a bed again.

But Emma is no pushover. She has a few rules of her own:

– They will have dinner together every evening.
– With conversation.
– And unlimited teasing.
– Last, and most importantly… Once she’s seen the man beneath the scars, he can’t stop her from falling in love…

My reading has been slow going but I’m starting this book today so wish me luck. I’m hearing good things about it so I’m excited to read it.

  1. How did you like Dating You Hating You? I had to return the audiobook as I wasn’t enjoying the story. It wasn’t the best from these two authors, tbh.

Enjoy your time with your friends!

  2. oh isn’t fun to go out into the city and just have fun with friends?? I am so glad to hear you are doing so well. I am curious to see what you think of Duchess Deal. I am a bit nervous, since Dare hasn’t impressed me lately but I am crossing my fingers are this one.

Yes! I love hanging out with my friends. They keep me laughing and having a good time. I enjoyed The Duchess Deal. A lot. That’s right. You didn’t like her last book. I really enjoyed it, I hope you do too.

  3. Glad you’re making the most of your time alone and are seeing friends. That banana pudding sounds delicious I would have totally tried that with you! I’m so jealous of you reading the newest Tessa Dare, I’m left waiting for the book to be released and my preorder to come in but it sounds brilliant. Tessa Dare always delivers. And When It’s Real has been on my to buy list for a while, it sounds like an awesome read so glad you enjoyed it.

Hope you have a good week.

  4. I havent read the new LL book yet but Nick wasn’t a fan of it either and your rating doesn’t make me feel better. My reading is slow too but at least I’m reading!
