Wow, it’s been a crazy last couple of weeks for me, personally. My Dad was in the hospital, had emergency heart surgery and got out Christmas afternoon so we were home in time to have Christmas dinner with the family. It’s been a whirlwind of activity since then with family in town for my Dad and the holidays but I’m back at work and am catching up on everything that I missed while I was away.
I didn’t read a lot since my mind couldn’t settle down enough for me to process what was happening in books so I didn’t even bother. I did watch some Hallmark movies and start some shows but I can’t remember what I watched. I also still decorated my planner so there was that.
Weekly Planner Spread
Here’s my planner spread for this week…before the pen.
Now, onto the books…

Dax: After spending the summer buried up to my eyeballs in my family’s affairs, I’m ready for a break. The kind of break where I can spend two solid weeks camping and fishing in the company of absolutely no one. Then I find myself directly in the path of a drop-dead gorgeous tornado by the name of Becca Stone. Who can resist a night with a damsel in distress? Especially when she happens to be a leggy blonde? The last thing I expect is for Becca to show up on my cabin doorstep the next night, shivering in the rain and ready for seconds.
Becca: One minute I’m admiring the rock-hard jaw of the Magic Mike lookalike who walks into my bar, and the next I’m getting fired by my own brother. Loudly. In front of everyone. Luckily Dax Vaughn is a gentleman who aims his white-hot smile at me. Oh, it’s on. Wham, bam, thank you ma’am. Then a torrential storm washes out the main road and causes a massive power outage, giving us two whole weeks to enjoy each other’s company. At which point Dax will go back home, leaving “us” in the rearview mirror. That’s the plan. Or it was . . . until I started falling for him.
My first read of 2018 is Man Candy by Jessica Lemmon and so far, I’m really digging it. Dax and Becca have crazy chemistry and I can feel it my damn self. Kudos on that, Jessica Lemmon. I can’t wait to dig into this book some more. Lunch break, here I come.
What I Read

Complicated by Kristen Ashley | 4 out of 5
I only read one book last week because of the reasons I mentioned above but I did enjoy Complicated. Hix and Greta were great characters with complicated lives but their support of one another and their loved ones made for a sweet romance that I ate right up…though in true Kristen Ashley form, it was still long as hell.
What I Reviewed

Love, Life & the List by Kasie West | 4.5 out of 5
The Matchmaker’s Playbook by Rachel van Dyken | 3 out of 5

Happy New Year, sweets! I hope you have a wonderful week, as well. Jessica Lemmon writes so well and I’m itching to get Hurts to Love You read too. So much goodness to look forward to. Yay!
Sorry to hear about your dad but glad hes better. I just heard the Kate Meader books on audio last week and they were fun. Happy 2018!
I’m so glad to hear that since they’re high on my TBR list. Thanks for stopping by, Nereyda and your kind words about my Dad. Happy 2018 to you, too! 🙂
I’m sorry to hear about your dad, is he doing ok now? It’s understandable you’ve not really been reading too much of late as you have obviously been busy. At least you got some good new books in, I still need to read the second book in Kate Meader’s series I am seriously behind in my TBR.
I hope you have a good week and manage to catch up on everything.
Hey Becky, yes. My Dad is on the mend and getting stronger with each passing day. I’m fortunate and happy with the progress he’s made in such a short time.
Did you like the Kate Meader books?
