I’m almost done with this book but most of last week was for my friend’s funeral and when I did read, I picked up To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, P.S. I Still Love You, and Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han to read all of my favorite Peter Kavinsky parts. Brenna is reading this series so I’m following along with her and we’re discussing the books every day so I haven’t fully moved on from these guys yet. I finally picked A Duke by Default up last night and read through about half of the book and then did some reading at the doctor’s office this morning so I should be finishing it up soon. Wish me luck.Award-winning author Alyssa Cole’s Reluctant Royals series continues with a woman on a quest to be the heroine of her own story and the duke in shining armor she rescues along the way
New York City socialite and perpetual hot mess Portia Hobbs is tired of disappointing her family, friends, and—most importantly—herself. An apprenticeship with a struggling swordmaker in Scotland is a chance to use her expertise and discover what she’s capable of. Turns out she excels at aggravating her gruff silver fox boss…when she’s not having inappropriate fantasies about his sexy Scottish burr.
Tavish McKenzie doesn’t need a rich, spoiled American telling him how to run his armory…even if she is infuriatingly good at it. Tav tries to rebuff his apprentice, and his attraction to her, but when Portia accidentally discovers that he’s the secret son of a duke, rough-around-the-edges Tav becomes her newest makeover project.
Forging metal into weapons and armor is one thing, but when desire burns out of control and the media spotlight gets too hot to bear, can a commoner turned duke and his posh apprentice find lasting love?

What Made Me Laugh

Yeah I hate sleeping on the floor or using an air mattress. Its nice to have a good mattress and bed. Hope you are loving it.
And I am planning on buying Duke By Default tomorrow so I can’t wait to read it!!! Hope you are enjoying it.
Same. I hear that sleeping on the floor is supposed to be good for you but meh. I’ll take a nice comfy mattress over the floor any day… I am super in love with my new bed.
Woot, it’s a great book. I hope you love it!
Love the family shot❤ I am so sorry about your friend. Oh my that lasy funny made me laigh so much!! Have a great week!
Thanks Grace, getting everyone together and to the beach was an ordeal but we did it and I love the results. I saved a bunch of things that made me laugh so I’m going to share them on the blog. Too funny!
Your family picture is so lovely! I love the setting of it!
I am really sorry to hear about your friend. The ceremony sounds like it was just the perfect one he deserved. Hugs to you! <3
Ooh I was curious about It Takes Two since I like Rachel Bilson. I'm glad it's good so far. Also, Kim's Convenience sounds just the show for me. I'll add it to my to-watch list.
I hope you have a good week, Rowena!
Thanks, Nick! I love those guys and am glad I get to spend my life with them. 🙂
So far, I’m enjoying it though it’s a little cheesy. Still, I like it.
Thanks, I hope you have a great week yourself. 🙂
I’m almost done with Duke by Default and enjoying it! Love that photo of you and your family, it’s so big!
Oh man, Portia and Tav are the bomb. Portia is fierce and I want to be her when I grow up!
Thanks, we’re a big ass Samoan family and I love each and every single one of those guys.
Yay for a new bed! I love the new bed feeling and knowing you chose it and paid for it is pretty satisfying too. I cannot believe how many people are in your family photo. It’s really nice you all managed to get in one place and have the photo and it looks really good, but how do you even remember everyone’s name! I’m also currently reading A Duke by Default and now have a strong urge to go to Scotland, not gonna lie.
I am super in love with my new bed. It’s the most comfortable bed that I’ve ever had. If I could sleep my life away, I’d have the best bed for it. Haha.
Yeah, we’re that big ass Polynesian family that shuts down every restaurant we go to. Hehe.
