This feature keeps changing because I’m trying different things out but I think I’m going to stick with this format from here on out. Thanks for coming along this ride until I figure out what the hell I want to do here. LOL.

By the New York Times bestselling author who “hilariously depicts modern dating” (Us Weekly), My Favorite Half-Night Stand is a laugh-out-loud romp through online dating and its many, many fails.

Millie Morris has always been one of the guys. A UC Santa Barbara professor, she’s a female-serial-killer expert who’s quick with a deflection joke and terrible at getting personal. And she, just like her four best guy friends and fellow professors, is perma-single.

So when a routine university function turns into a black tie gala, Mille and her circle make a pact that they’ll join an online dating service to find plus-ones for the event. There’s only one hitch: after making the pact, Millie and one of the guys, Reid Campbell, secretly spend the sexiest half-night of their lives together, but mutually decide the friendship would be better off strictly platonic.

But online dating isn’t for the faint of heart. While the guys are inundated with quality matches and potential dates, Millie’s first profile attempt garners nothing but dick pics and creepers. Enter “Catherine”—Millie’s fictional profile persona, in whose make-believe shoes she can be more vulnerable than she’s ever been in person. Soon “Catherine” and Reid strike up a digital pen-pal-ship...but Millie can’t resist temptation in real life, either. Soon, Millie will have to face her worst fear—intimacy—or risk losing her best friend, forever.

Perfect for fans of Roxanne and She’s the Man, Christina Lauren’s latest romantic comedy is full of mistaken identities, hijinks, and a classic love story with a modern twist. Funny and fresh, you’ll want to swipe right on My Favorite Half-Night Stand.

This week’s boyfriend was my favorite part of his book. I adored getting to know him and I was super happy when he finally got his happily ever after in the end because it wasn’t easy in coming. Reid was such a normal guy with normal problems and fears. He wasn’t this super alpha-hole that dominated the hell out of the heroine. He was her best friend and he loved her most out of everyone. Even when things didn’t work out the way that he hoped, he still loved her and was so normal about it all.

Postsex, I feel like a well-used glove, a warm blanket, a body pillow. Soft and warm and sated. But inside, somewhere deeper, I’m a knot of angst. I want Millie. I think I’m falling in love with her. And she just does not see me that way at all.

There is much to recommend Reid Campbell. He’s a professor, he’s a lovable nerd who is good to the people in his life. He was always there for friends and he was extremely protective of those he loved. He was smart and funny and so sweet, I just loved him to pieces.

The way he smiles up at me is the same way he always looks at me: like there is nowhere else he’d rather be.

You know that saying, “Find you a man that looks at you the way…”? Well, find you a man that looks at you the way that Reid looks at Millie. Like there is nowhere else he’d rather be. Those are the good ones.

The thing about Reid is that everyone knows a Reid. He’s not some super perfect human who is unattainable. He’s the guy next door that helps you bring up the trashcans on trash day. He’s the guy that stops and holds the elevator door so you don’t have to wait 16 floors for the next one. He wasn’t out there trying to hook up with as many women as he could because he could, he was having quiet nights in with his best friend, listening to her problems and falling in love with her. We all know a Reid. We all love a Reid.

“I love you, too.” He punctuates each small phrase with a kiss lower on my throat. “All of you. The silly, the quiet, the argumentative, the sarcastic, and even this side.” He kisses my shoulder. “The softer side.”

Reid’s book My Favorite Half Night Stand by Christina Lauren is problematic as hell but the writing is still super good. These authors have a way of pissing me off and then making everything all better in the end. Reid is a huge reason why I loved this book and I just love him so. If you’re looking for a hot nerdy professor hero falling in love with his best friend, pick this one up. It’s good, I promise.
