The Monthly Recap: January 2019

Posted February 5, 2019 by Rowena in Features | 8 Comments

I can’t remember doing much of anything outside of Brenna’s basketball, book club and a spontaneous girls dinner with my friends. I also remember my car being in the shop and having to pay much more than I anticipated spending to fix that but all is well, my bills are all up to date and I survived so I can’t complain too much. Here’s what my month looked like in books…

14. The Scoundrel in Her Bed (Sins for All Season #3) by Lorraine Heath (eARC) | 4.5 out of 5

My favorite read from January goes to It Takes Two by Jenny Holiday. Wendy and Noah were such a great couple and their story had me laughing and then crying. I just adored seeing them come together and couldn’t wait to jump into the next book in that series. Jenny Holiday is doing contemporary romance right. Love her stuff.

My least favorite read of the month goes to The Wrong Game by Kandi Steiner. I was expecting something a lot lighter than what we got in this book and the heroine’s immature game really tainted my enjoyment, so much so that in the end, I just felt a whole lot of meh for the book.

  1. I just get starry eyed and swoony looking at all the pretty covers. 🙂 I loved The Deal and truly need to continue on with the series. I picked up Brooklynaire when it was on sale and now I’m dying to start the Brooklyn Bruisers series (just as soon as I catch up on the True North series). Love and Other Words was one of my faves from last year. Loved it!

  2. Amber Elise

Sorry about your car. It’s dumb how expensive cars. 14 books is pretty impressive too, I hope you love the new Lauren Layne!
