The Weekly Recap (159)

Posted February 1, 2021 by Rowena in Features | 10 Comments

This week, there was a funeral in my family and I sat through the 7 hour funeral feeling bad for my niece. My cousin’s grandson passed away last month and they were finally able to lay him to rest on Friday. He was the same age as my Lukey so I’ve been thinking about Luke a lot lately. Hold your babies close because you just never know.

Now, let’s get into all of the things that I did last week…

What I Watched

Run BTS: This week’s Run BTS follows the boys as they play games. In order to go home, they have to complete all 14 games and let me tell you, Suga, Jin, and J Hope are terrible at games. I laughed plenty of times watching the boys try to finish and win the games and just…failing. When Jin and RM watch V make his way through the laser games so smoothly and without hitting the bells, it was super funny.

True Beauty: This show continues to make me smile with each and every episode. It hasn’t been super perfect because I feel like Im Ju-gyeong be doing the most when trying to hide her bare face from everyone. But I’m really liking the romance between her and Lee Su-ho and though I do enjoy the friendship between her and Han Seo-jun but for me, and this is coming from someone who didn’t read the webtoon, I’m Team Su-ho through and through.

Naruto: I started watching this show because my friend B Nice wanted to show some love to our other friend Therese because we’re constantly forcing Therese to do things that we love and she does it (I have the best friends) so to show her that we love her, we both started watching Naruto because it’s Therese’s favorite show. B Nice and I started it together but B Nice has blown way past me. I started watching it on Netflix and for some reason, I could not understand what the heck is going on so everyone told me to watch it on Hulu, and even though it’s the same show, it’s heaps better on Hulu. Now that I’m all caught up on everything, I’m finally understanding what the heck is going on and who is who so yesss I’m enjoying it so much more now.

Sweet Home: I binge-watched the entire first season this weekend and enjoyed every single minute. This just might be the year that I get into horror stuff because I’ve watched a couple of movies and now this show and I think I’m hooked. I’ll review this one soon.

Ween! Do you have something that stops time so you can do all the things you need to do? I feel tired after seeing what you’ve reviewed this week. But what can I say… you’ve always been like that and I’m never surprised. That funeral was very long but I enjoyed it even though I didn’t know anyone there.
I will have to finish watching Sweet Home (I can’t go anywhere without Nelly trying to see what I’m doing) and let me know about any other Korean horror films. I did watch Finding O’hana yesterday and was really disappointed. I couldn’t even finish watching it. Apparently the son on there is an Aiono and Uncle Pet was acting like I knew who he was. His acting was horrible. I wanna check out The Call (since you gave it a 4 out of 5) and I’m curious about The Forgotten.
I still need to finish reading Rain’s book. I’m sorry, I’m slacking.

    • OMG, me too Therese! I watched Finding Ohana with Ingrid and Chris, thinking we’d do our part in supporting a Polynesian movie but the movie just…ehh. It didn’t really do anything for me. I’d like Polynesian content about regular Polynesian people living their lives because I think our people are funny as hell and capable of much better content than Finding Ohana. The son in Finding Ohana is Alex Aiono. He’s a YouTube singer. I think he’s afakasi. Afa palagi, afa Samoan, from Orange County. I hope the actors in the movie take more acting classes because…yeah.

Sweet Home was great. I enjoyed it so much and know that you will too. Just finish it already! Watch the episodes when you wake up at the ass crack of dawn to take your meds! Haha, I promise it’s good Therese! I think, knowing your personality, you wouldn’t like the Forgotten but I think you’d dig The Call.

No worries, read when you can!

Lol that’s exactly what Peti said. He’s from Orange County and he said his parents’ names but you know me, if I don’t know them, it went in one ear and out the other. I was so bothered by his acting that I’m like meh. I totally agree with you.. our people are funny AF and we have a lot to offer. I’m not gonna let him ruin that for me though. I was watching Straight Outta Compton on Saturday night and had to laugh because I can’t believe I didn’t notice it the first time I watched but Eazy E’s bodyguard was poly. LOL when he was standing outside his hospital room, my remark was, “There goes Romey!” How stereotypical of me. hahahhaha but all in good fun.

I should do that in the mornings since I’m up at 5am. But I’m afraid I would get so caught up that I would miss my workout ?‍♀️ but I’ll try that tomorrow morning. Get up right at 4:30 when my first alarm goes off, brush my teeth and get ready and then watch for an hour and 15 mins. Thanks Ween! LOL

    • I follow him on YouTube cause he does some bomb ass covers of today’s pop music and some of his original music is good too. I hope he goes to acting school so that he can get better at acting. 🙂

What kind of work outs does Coach Maals have you doing these days? You can do it, Therese. There’s only like three more episodes from where you left off.

  3. So sorry to hear about the death in your family. .

I hope you’re taking care of yourself, read a lot books, watch a lot of Kdrama and listen to a lot of Kpop. Whatever works, yes?

Good morning- I just got around to reading your blog and holy heaps- you did alot in a week- I love it! My family is like what do you do all day at home- I’m like I love being home- I can read, watch Naruto, catch up on kdramas, listen to new kpop songs and have a good ole time- what the heck lol!
Im glad we started watching Naruto- I can’t get enough of that show- I’m hooked on that little NINJA Boy lol! He’s like the highlight of my day knowing that when I go home and get settled in, I’ll be watching more episodes, but when I’m not watching- I’m always blasting BTS and working on other things or cleaning the house and all that stuff. Its hard being a fan girl lol- but I love it- and it makes me happy!
I’m always on here reading your posts- thanks for posting- it keeps me in the loop of all things korean, books and the day to day activities- Have a good day!
    P.S.- Hi Therese!

    • LOL, your family sounds like Ingrid. She’s always inviting me to go places and I’m like, nah. I’m sure there is more BTS content that I still have yet to watch. If not, then I’ll watch a kdrama or Naruto. There’s always something to watch and do!

We’re all here!! Hi Therese too!
