My American Duchess by Eloisa James
The arrogant Duke of Trent intends to marry a well-bred Englishwoman. The last woman he would ever consider marrying is the adventuresome Merry Pelford— an American heiress who has infamously jilted two fiancés.
But after one provocative encounter with the captivating Merry, Trent desires her more than any woman he has ever met. He is determined to have her as his wife, no matter what it takes. And Trent is a man who always gets what he wants.
The problem is, Merry is already betrothed, and the former runaway bride has vowed to make it all the way to the altar. As honor clashes with irresistible passion, Trent realizes the stakes are higher than anyone could have imagined. In his battle to save Merry and win her heart, one thing becomes clear:
All is fair in love and war.
This past week, I’ve read quite a bit of historical romances and I’m not even a little bit mad about it. I’m reading some great romances so I guess I want to keep the historical party going. I haven’t started this one yet but I will be reading this one tonight and I can’t wait.
Did I Mention I Love You by Estelle Maskame | 2.75 out of 5
Dukes Prefer Blondes (Dressmakers #4) by Loretta Chase | 4.75 out of 5
Lord Dashwood Missed Out (Spindle Cove #4.5) by Tessa Dare | 3.5 out of 5
Scorched (Frigid #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout | 3 out of 5
The Deal (Off-Campus #1) by Elle Kennedy | 5 out of 5
The Mistake (Off-Campus #2) by Elle Kennedy | 4.5 out of 5
My favorite read of the week is probably my re-read of The Deal by Elle Kennedy because damn that Garrett Graham but of the new reads, hands down my favorite read is Dukes Prefer Blondes by Loretta Chase. That was such a fun book with a steamy romance that had me sighing and laughing all over the damn place. So freaking good!
My least favorite read of the week goes to Did I Mention I Love You by Estelle Maskame. I think I’m starting to get over YA’s and while that makes me sad, there is still plenty of things for me to read so I’m sure I’ll be okay.
Heat Exchange (Boston Fire #1) by Shannon Stacey
Dirty Deeds (Mechanics of Love #3) by Megan Erickson
Sustained (Legal Briefs #2) by Emma Chase
Overruled (Legal Briefs #1) by Emma Chase
Dare to Run (Sons of Steel Row #1) by Jen McLaughlin
The Earl Takes All (Hellions of Havisham #2) by Lorraine Heath
The blurb for The Earl Takes All by Lorraine Heath had me gasping and OMG-ing all over the damn place because WHAT???!!! I can’t wait to dig into that one. Holy shitballs!
There you have it, my week in books. How did your week go?
It’s been a crazy last couple of weeks so I haven’t been able to blog on here as much as I wanted or thought I would. I need to get Brenna her own computer so that she can use that for her homework.
Anyway, this week’s Throwback picture is a goody. It’s one that had me cracking up at how young we all look. It’s from my high school graduation.
From L-R: Manu, Me, Foti and Dee Dee
Manu was the most popular kid in this picture, followed by Foti. They were the athletes. Manu played football and Foti played soccer. Dee and I were on Pep Squad for a year together (short flags squad) before I quit to become a water girl for the football team. Yep, I was a freaking cheerleader. Don’t hate. Haha.
This picture was taken on June 19, 1998…17 years ago
I was 17
Brenna turns 17 in three months. It blows my mind that I have a daughter that is the same age that I was in this picture. I can’t believe how freaking old I am. Where did the time go?
Looking at this picture, takes me right back to high school. To all of the football games, the parties, the dances, the goofing around in the quad at lunchtime. CHICK FIL-A sandwiches at the red carts. The friends I had that I don’t keep in contact with anymore and the friends that I do keep in contact with. Brenna goes to North now and did you know that they don’t have outside food sold in the quad anymore? No more Chick Fil-A, no more Taco Bell, it’s all school lunches for them. Sucks to be them, for sure. What also sucks is they don’t eat bagels with cream cheese, hashbrowns and ham either. That was a staple back when I was at North. It was the freaking Saxon bagel. Kids these days, missing out on the good stuff.
You know what’s annoying about this week’s picture? How Foti looks exactly the same now as he did in this picture. I think hate him.
Anyway, that does it for this week’s Throwback Thursday. I’ll be back with another goody next week.
I’m a Pinterest whore. Before I go to bed, I’m either on Pinterest or Tumblr on my phone. I’m always checking out the different pins on Pinterest because there’s just so many freaking good ideas on there.
1. This Mac and Cheese recipe.
I tried making Mac n Cheese from scratch for the first time at Thanksgiving and I really liked it so now I’m checking Pinterest for other recipes to try and this one makes the cut. I want to try this one out soon.
2. This Cornbread Waffles with Chili Fixins’.
I came across this recipe (and picture) and thought, holy crap that looks so freaking good. I would have made it last weekend but Delene made chili for the Redondo tournament every day in the snack bar so I just ate her chili and called it a day…but someday soon, I’m going to be blogging about this recipe cause I’m going to make it. I just need to dust off our waffle maker and find a good chili recipe. Maybe I’ll just steal Delene’s.
3. 7 Simple Ways to Become Incredibly Organized.
I’m always trying to find ways to become more organized at home and at work, this looks like simple ways to make that happen so I’m going to try to incorporate this stuff into my everyday life. Wish me luck. 🙂
4. Make a Memory Jar.
I attempted to try this out last year but did it on my old blog and that didn’t last very long. It’s hard to keep things going every day of the year. You get busy, you forget and well, I’m going to try again in 2016. Maybe not every day but often enough. Again, wish me luck.
5. Make a T-Shirt Blanket.
Brenna has a lot of t-shirts. Shirts from basketball tournaments, camps and teams that she’s played in/on. A lot of those shirts are too small to wear but they hold a lot of good memories for her and I’d like to one day make a blanket out of those shirts for her. That would be so cool.
I could really go on and on about all of the pins that I want to try on Pinterest but I’m going to stop here because, this post is long enough.
What about you? Are there any pins that you’d love to try out? Share them with me, I might add them to my list.
I think I found my end of the year reading stride because I got some damn books read this week. Yay me! My review pile is slowly dwindling and I haven’t picked up or requested very many of eARCs in the last couple of weeks because I really want to get my review pile down. I’m crossing my fingers that I can knock some more out this week. Wish me luck!
Did I Mention I Love You by Estelle Maskame
Love is everything but expected.
Eden Monro came to California for a summer of sun, sand, and celebrities – what better way to forget about the drama back home? Until she meets her new family of strangers: a dad she hasn’t seen in three years, a step-monster, and three stepbrothers.
Eden gets her own room in her dad’s fancy house in Santa Monica. A room right next door to her oldest stepbrother, Tyler Bruce. Whom she cannot stand. He’s got angry green eyes and ego bigger than a Beverly Hills mansion. She’s never felt such intense dislike for someone. But the two are constantly thrown together as his group of friends pull her into their world of rule-breaking, partying, and pier-hanging.
And the more she tries to understand what makes Tyler burn hotter than the California sun, the more Eden finds herself falling for the one person she shouldn’t…
Did I Mention I Love You? is the addictive first book in Wattpad sensation Estelle Maskame’s DIMILY trilogy: three unforgettable summers of secrets, heartbreak, and forbidden romance.
I haven’t gotten very far into this book but I’m looking forward to getting it read since the book takes place not too far from where I live. After I finish this book, I’m going to jump into Lord Dashwood Missed Out by Tessa Dare
Dirty Deeds by Megan Erickson | 4 out of 5
Controlled Burn by Shannon Stacey | 3.5 out of 5
Saving Grace by Kristen Proby | 2.5 out of 5
Kissing Her Crazy by Kira Archer
Joint Review w/Holly: Kill and Tell by Linda Howard
Midnight Revenge by Elle Kennedy
Sweet Little Lies by Jill Shalvis
I’m trying not to request any new review books until I finish with the books that I already have but dude!! It’s D’s book and Jill Shalvis is writing a new series for Avon. That’s like some Christmas shit right there so I’m all over these two! I can’t wait to dig into these books.
There you have it, my week in books. How did your week go?
This week’s Man Crush is the guy that plays Jackson Avery on Greys Anatomy because holy cow, he’s yummy. I started watching the later seasons over the weekend and my favorite part of the entire show outside of Christina Yang is Avery and Kepner. That’s surprising because I hated Kepner when I was watching the show.
I mean, look at this guy:
Look at those eyes!!!! Talk about gorgeous.
This is exactly how I feel when I’m watching Grey’s now.
Get it, Kepner!
