Friday Five

I’m a huge book nerd who is always reading a book, looking for upcoming books to read or writing about the books that I’m reading. I blog about books over at my book blog, Book Binge that I run with my friend Holly. I’m all about the books. So it should come as no surprise that this week’s Friday Five is book related. Lots of bookish news dropped this week and I’m going to wrap up the five book news that had me looking like…

[1] Jen Frederick and Elle Kennedy wrote a YA.

Two of my favorite New Adult authors wrote a Young Adult book…together. I’m beyond excited about this piece of news. I mean seriously. I’m so anxious that you could call me Genuwine. I don’t even care what the book is about, I’m still going to read the hell out of it. But here’s the cover and blurb.

Paper Princess
Paper Princess by Erin Watt.

From strip clubs and truck stops to southern coast mansions and prep schools, one girl tries to stay true to herself.

These Royals will ruin you…

Ella Harper is a survivor—a pragmatic optimist. She’s spent her whole life moving from town to town with her flighty mother, struggling to make ends meet and believing that someday she’ll climb out of the gutter. After her mother’s death, Ella is truly alone.

Until Callum Royal appears, plucking Ella out of poverty and tossing her into his posh mansion among his five sons who all hate her. Each Royal boy is more magnetic than the last, but none as captivating as Reed Royal, the boy who is determined to send her back to the slums she came from.

Reed doesn’t want her. He says she doesn’t belong with the Royals.

He might be right.

Wealth. Excess. Deception. It’s like nothing Ella has ever experienced, and if she’s going to survive her time in the Royal palace, she’ll need to learn to issue her own Royal decrees.

Yup. I’m definitely in.

[2] Kristen Callihan announced 2 new Game On books.

We’re getting 2 new Game On books! I am a huge fan of this series so this was very good news for me. Cal’s getting a book and so is a teammate of fan favorite Ethan “Dex” Dexter. Here’s what KC had to say on the matter:

What’s next for Game On?

Cal Alder and Tess Harper in currently untitled Game On book 4–Back to college we go!

Cal was her brother’s best friend and a constant thorn in Tess’s side. But when a high school prank goes wrong, he became her greatest enemy. Now Tess and Cal are at the same college and Cal is the lead quarterback. Wherever Tess goes, Cal’s name follows. She does her best to avoid him, but some pests just won’t go away.

Cal has always wanted Tess. But she’s been off limits and hates him for a very good reason. When fate throws them together one cold night, Cal decides enough is enough. He’s going to show Tess the real man behind the facade and convince her that they were meant to be. Game On.

Ooh, the best friend’s little sister trope. Yay, I’m all about it!

Some more Game On news delivered via KC’s newsletter is:

More Game On…

Jack Ryder -wide receiver and Ethan Dexter’s teammate- will soon meet his match when his team begins filming a training camp documentary and the head producer is the one woman he can’t stop thinking about.

Release date to be announced.

*happy sigh* Oh happy day!

[3] Kristen Callihan announced a new Rockstar Romance and it comes out in May.

Another tid bit that has me so freaking excited, I’m about to burst out of my skin? This little gem:
Idol
Idol by Kristen Callihan.

Idol, a VIP novel
Coming May 17th!
Yes, I stepped away from the world of football for a bit and dropped into the dizzy rush that is the rock star life.

Why did I do this? Blame Killian James, lead singer and guitarist of Kill John, the biggest rock band in the world, and Liberty Bell, a recluse who was perfectly content until a drunk yet undeniably hot guy crashes his bike on her lawn.

They had a story to tell and would not shut up until I told it.

I.Can’t.Freaking.Wait.

KC also shared an excerpt for Idol and if you want to read it, you should sign up for her newsletter. Its a good one, I promise! Holly and I did a lot of happy squeeing once the newsletter hit our inboxes.

[4] Lauren Layne will start Lincoln’s book in the next couple of weeks.

In Lauren Layne’s newsletter that went out this week, she announced that she’s going to start working on Lincoln’s book soon and I’m excited. I’ve loved Lincoln since we first met him in Alex and Emma’s book so I’m glad to finally be getting his back story and learn all of his secrets!

Someone Like You by Lauren Layne.

Lincoln Mathis is legendary for his exploits with the ladies. As Oxford’s go-to guy for one-liners, one-night stands, and all things no-strings-attached, Lincoln has yet to meet a woman he couldn’t charm into his bed—until he meets the magazine’s new copy editor. Shy, bookish, and adorably awkward, she should be grateful for the attention of a handsome bachelor. But to Lincoln’s surprise, the harder he tries to win her over, the more she dodges him. Lincoln swore he’d never make himself vulnerable again—but for Tori, he’s going to have to break all his rules.

Victoria Blake knows Lincoln’s type all too well, and she has zero interest in becoming one more notch in his belt. After winding up as the butt of a mean-spirited prank in college, Tori learned not to believe that a gorgeous playboy could truly be interested in someone like her. And Lincoln is definitely a gorgeous playboy. But the more she gets to know him, the more she suspects that Lincoln’s sleazy swagger is a façade, carefully crafted to hide his pain. And maybe Tori can be the one to heal his broken heart—even if it means risking her own.

*squee*

[5] Allegiance of Honor by Nalini Singh has a sparkly new cover.

My goal for the next two months is to catch up on this series so that I can dig into this new book which brings all of the couples from the series together to fight the bad guy in one book. Love this idea. I’ve wanted something like this from other authors so I’m thrilled that Nalini Singh finally did it.

Allegiance of Honor
Allegiance of Honor by Nalini Singh.

The “unparalleled romantic adventure”* of Nalini Singh’s New York Times bestselling series continues as a new dawn begins for the Psy-Changeling world…

The Psy-Changeling world has undergone a staggering transformation and now stands at a crossroads. The Trinity Accord promises a new era of cooperation between disparate races and groups. It is a beacon of hope held together by many hands: Old enemies. New allies. Wary loners.

But a century of distrust and suspicion can’t be so easily forgotten and threatens to shatter Trinity from within at any moment. As rival members vie for dominance, chaos and evil gather in the shadows and a kidnapped woman’s cry for help washes up in San Francisco, while the Consortium turns its murderous gaze toward a child who is the embodiment of change, of love, of piercing hope: A child who is both Psy…and changeling.

To find the lost, protect the vulnerable—and save Trinity—no one can stand alone. This is a time of loyalty across divisions, of bonds woven into the heart and the soul, of heroes known and unknown standing back to back and holding the line. But is an allegiance of honor even possible with traitors lurking in their midst?

This sounds so freaking good and I have my work cut out for me to get ready for this book. I’m up for the challenge though.

See you next week…:)

Throwback Thursday (6)

TBT

These three have been close for as long as I can remember. They’re still extremely close with their different personalities and hectic schedules. They fight and bicker like sisters but they’re tight as can be.

This picture shows that that’s always been the case when it comes to them.

L-R: Cheridan, Brenna, Kenna

Haha, Kenna’s teeth look like Lukey’s teeth now, Brenna is still the middle man for everything concerning the three of these guys and Cheridan is still as goofy as she appears in this picture.

99s

This is them now and as you can see, they still like to stand in the same order. Haha.

Nobody but You (Cedar Ridge #3) by Jill Shalvis

SOMETIMES YOU CAN GO HOME AGAIN…

After an overseas mission goes wrong, Army Special Forces officer Jacob Kincaid knows where he must go to make things right: back home to the tiny town of Cedar Ridge, Colorado. All he needs to scrub away his painful past is fresh mountain air, a lakeside cabin, and quiet solitude. But what he discovers is a gorgeous woman living on a boat at his dock.

Sophie Marren has nowhere else to go. She’s broke, intermittently seasick, and fighting a serious attraction to the brooding, dishy, I’m-too-sexy-for-myself guy who’s now claiming her dock. Something about Jacob’s dark intensity makes her want to tease—and tempt—him beyond measure. Neither one wants to give any ground . . . until they realize the only true home they have is with each other.

It’s been a while since I’ve read anything by Shalvis so I’m digging into this one. So far, it’s good but it’s still more of the same of what you usually get from a Shalvis. *sigh*

Once & Always (Sequels #1) by Judith McNaught | 4 out of 5
Because of Miss Bridgerton (Rokesbys #1) by Julia Quinn | 4 out of 5

I had a good reading week. I finished the Sex, Love & Stilettos series and I was a little sad that I’m done with that group of characters until we get Lincoln’s book in a few months. I’m really liking Layne’s writing style and her characters. So fun!

I re-read Once & Always by Judith McNaught for my book club meeting last night and holy cow, I’d forgotten how angsty a McNaught read was. This time around, I didn’t love Jason Fielding nearly as much as I did when I read this book back in the day but it was still a great read and a great discussion book.

Ms. Quinn does not disappoint with her upcoming release, Because of Miss Bridgerton. It was everything I hoped it would be. It was fun, laugh out loud funny and the romance hit all of my happy buttons. Can’t wait for the next book.
