My Life in Books

Posted April 17, 2018 by Rowena in Miscellaneous | 2 Comments

I keep meaning to do a bunch of these book tags but never get around to it but when I saw this particular book tag on Grace’s blog, I wanted to give it a go and so I did. 1. Find a book for each of your initials. Runaway Groom by Lauren Layne Naughty Boss by Whitney G. Wildfire by Ilona Andrews 2. Count your age along your bookshelf – which book is it? Suddenly You by Lisa Kleypas Holy cow, I was scrolling for a long time to get to this title on my kindle. Being in your thirties is the pits. Haha. But I do love this book. 3. Pick a book set in your city/country. Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James I live in Torrance, California but it was hard to find a book set here that I’d actually read so since Torrance is in L.A. County, I went for a book set in L.A. and Just the Sexiest Man Alive is one of, if not, my favorite books set in Los Angeles. Jason and Taylor are freaking great! 4. Pick a book that represents a destination you would love to travel to. Powerful Greek, Unwordly Wife by Sarah Morgan I’ve never been to Greece before and I really want to go. I’d love to eat authentic Meditteranean food. I’d also like to go to eat fish and chips in England, pizza in Italy, croissants in France and visit all of those other European countries. 5. Pick a book that’s your favorite color. What Happens in London by Julia Quinn My favorite color is red and off the top of my head, this cover came to mind when I thought of red book covers. I so love this book. 6. Which book do you have the fondest memories of? The Year We Hid Away by Sarina Bowen I have the fondest of memories from this book. The satisfaction I got from reading through to the end, seeing how Bridger and Scarlett’s journey came to an end?? I freaking loved it. This book broke my heart but that ending was so satisfying that whenever I see this book out in the wild, I smile because Bridger, man. I love that guy. 7. Which book did you have the most difficulty reading? If You Don’t Have Anything Nice to Say by Leila Sales I had to keep putting this book down because I wanted to punch someone the further I got into the story. I kept reading because I had to know how all of this ended. I needed to know if the main character finally learns her lesson and ugh…the ending pissed me off so much. I’ll be reviewing that book this week on the blog so prepare yourselves for a very long rant. 8. Which book in your TBR pile will give you the biggest sense of accomplishment if you finish it? Magic Triumph by Ilona Andrews Probably this book because I haven’t read the first book in this series yet and I’m determined to read this entire series this year. It’s going to be a long journey but I’m here for it. Wish me luck. Well, that was fun. Hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

My Marvel Movies Project of 2018

Posted March 21, 2018 by Rowena in Miscellaneous | 4 Comments

I’m sure that by now, everyone and their Mom has seen the movie trailers for Marvel’s Infinity Wars and like everyone else, I’m itching to watch it. Since the movie doesn’t come out until April 27th, I have some time to wait. After talking to my friends, we’ve decided to use the time until Infinity Wars to re-watch (and watch for the first time in some cases) all of the movies leading up to this one. I’m calling it the Marvel Movies Project of 2018. I’ll be watching each movie and tracking my progress through this post.
Avengers: Infinity War Trailer
Phase 1
Iron Man (2008) | 4 out of 5 The Incredible Hulk (2008) Iron Man 2 (2010) Thor (2011) Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) The Avengers (2012)
Phase 2
Iron Man 3 (2013) Thor: The Dark World (2013) Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 (2017) Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) Ant-Man (2015)
Phase 3
Doctor Strange (2016) Captain America: Civil War (2016) Black Panther (2018) | 5 out of 5 Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) | 4 out of 5 Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Altogether, it will take me 1 day, 9 hours and 52 minutes to complete this movie project but I’m determined to watch them all so wish me luck!

Movies I Want To See: February 2018

Posted February 7, 2018 by Rowena in Miscellaneous | 0 Comments

Brenna and I have been talking about a bunch of stuff that we want to do together and one of those things is weekend matinee movies. Last month, we watched The Greatest Showman together but we want to amp that up in February so of course I made a list of movies that I want to watch this month. There’s a pretty decent variety in the movies that I want to see so let’s hope we actually make time to go and see some of these. Check it out. 1. The Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018) Rated PG-13 | Action, Sci-Fi, Thriller | 2:21
In the epic finale to The Maze Runner Saga, Thomas leads his group of escaped Gladers on their final and most dangerous mission yet. To save their friends, they must break into the legendary last city, a WCKD controlled labyrinth that may turn out to be the deadliest maze of all. Anyone who makes it out alive will get the answers to the questions the Gladers have been asking since they first arrived in the maze. Will Thomas and the crew make it out alive? Or will Ava Paige get her way?
I’ve watched both of the previous movies and Dylan O’Brien missed a lot of the last season of Teen Wolf because he was filming this movie so yes….it’s on my list of movies to watch because I want to see what the heck the big deal is with this one. I didn’t read the books but they’re pretty popular so why not? 2. Den of Thieves (2018) Rated R | Action, Crime, Drama | 2:20
A gritty Los Angeles crime saga which follows the intersecting and often personally connected lives of an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff’s Dept. and the state’s most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank of downtown Los Angeles.
My sister Ingrid saw this movie and before she texted to let us know that she was going to see this movie, I had never even heard of it but I watched the trailer for this movie and….I’m sold. This one looks good so yeah, I’m in. 3. 12 Strong (2018) Rated R | Action, Drama, History | 2:10
The True Story of the Army’s Special Forces “Green Berets”, who within weeks responded to the 9-11 attack. Green Berets, with the help of the 160th SOAR(A), took over the country and allowed other Special Forces and the rest of the conventional military to begin the more publicly visible war.
I’m a sucker for military movies so of course this movie made its way onto my radar. I’m also a fan of Chris Hemsworth (hello, hottie!) so his casting, the whole military thing and then some US history that I actually lived through?? Yeah, I’m all about it. 4. Black Panther (2018) Rated PG-13 | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi | 2:14
After the events of Captain America: Civil War, King T’Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country’s new leader. However, T’Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakandan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.
I love me some Michael B. Jordan and I’m looking forward to watching some other hotties when I watch this movie because, yeah…I’m all in. The cast alone on this one is pretty epic so I definitely want to see this one.
Are there any movies coming out or already in theaters that you’re itching to watch in the month of February? Share your picks in the comments!
