Series: MacCabe Trilogy

The Weekly Recap (100)

You guys!!! Caiden is here and I have been a super happy Aunty since he got here on Saturday. His Dad came to town to go to the J. Cole concert with my brother and some other people so they made a family vacation out of the trip and will be here for the entire week. They’re going to do the tourist thing while they’re here like Disneyland, the beach, Long Beach Aquarium and other family vacation things.

This week was a pretty quiet week for me. I exercised, I read a lot and I tried to watch Sharp Objects on HBO but I lasted three episodes before I gave it up. I started watching it because I love Chris Messina but I don’t know that I love him enough to finish the show. Sorry, Ames. I’ve also watched To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before so many times that I’ve lost count. I’m really loving Netflix’s Rom Com’s so I’ve got my fingers crossed that we’ll get more from them.

Oh, I should also mention that my nephew Chase, who is starting his junior year in high school was riding his bike home from football practice on Thursday evening and got hit by a car! His bike is trash now and Chase himself is fine, he came away from the accident with small cuts on his arm from his fall to the street but he’s alive and well and I’m glad. Chase isn’t a small guy so the lady that hit him saying that she didn’t see him surprises the hell out of me because like I said, Chase isn’t a small kid. I hope she replaces his bike because Chase loves riding that thing.

I’m really getting into this audiobook thing so I’m lining some other books to listen to while I’m at work. My next listen will be Kulti by Mariana Zapata and I hope that book is as good as everyone says. Wish me luck!

Now, onto the books…

Maya Banks' beguiling new trilogy features three unforgettable brothers risking everything to save their clan and their legacy—and to surrender their hearts to love.

Ewan McCabe, the eldest, is a warrior determined to vanquish his enemy. Now, with the time ripe for battle, his men are ready and Ewan is poised to take back what is his—until a blue-eyed, raven-haired temptress is thrust upon him. Mairin may be the salvation of Ewan's clan, but for a man who dreams only of revenge, matters of the heart are strange territory to conquer.

The illegitimate daughter of the king, Mairin possesses prized property that has made her a pawn—and wary of love. Her worst fears are realized when she is rescued from peril only to be forced into marriage by her charismatic and commanding savior, Ewan McCabe. But her attraction to her ruggedly powerful new husband makes her crave his surprisingly tender touch; her body comes alive under his sensual mastery. And as war draws near, Mairin's strength, spirit, and passion challenge Ewan to conquer his demons—and embrace a love that means more than revenge and land.

In an effort to catch up with my buddy reviews, my review books, and my summer challenge books, I’m reading In Bed with a Highlander by Maya Banks. This was the other pick for me from my friend Holly for our summer reading challenge and I have two more books to read from that before school starts to finish up that challenge. So far, I’m really enjoying this book. Ewan and Mairin are great and I’m definitely going to be reading the other books in this series. I’m fully committed to this series already.

What I Read

All the Way by Kristen Proby | 3 out of 5
Under Control by Shannon Stacey | 4 out of 5
The Governess Game by Tessa Dare | 4.75 out of 5
The Breakup by Erin McCarthy | 3 out of 5

All the Way and The Breakup weren’t as good as I hoped they would be, at least for me but I did love the hell out of The Governess Game and Under Control. I can’t wait to see what this week in books awaits me.
