Five K-Drama Actors that I’m Crushing On

Posted July 21, 2021 by Rowena in Features | 4 Comments

I’m a list person. I have a list for every single thing in my life from a to-do list, a list of books that I want to read, a running shopping list, and in the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing different k-entertainment lists that I’ve been keeping track of. You’ll be seeing my top 5 lists of stuff like my current celebrity crushes, my favorite k-drama female protagonists, my favorite k-drama male protagonists, my to-be-watched k-dramas, and you know, stuff like that.

This week’s Wednesday Five will feature my top 5 k-drama actor crushes.

My tastes in celebrity crushes sure have changed since I was younger. I’ve always had a celebrity crush that my poor best friend, Theresa, had to listen to me gush all over all the damn time. My celebrity crushes used to be like Paul Walker, Justin Timberlake, Jordan Knight from New Kids on the Block, haha and just very American guys. These days, you’ll find me crushing and watching all kinds of Korean dramas because of any one of these guys. Also, my celebrity crush lists when it comes to k-dramas change almost weekly. I discover new k-drama crushes all the time so don’t be surprised if you see another one of these posts with a completely new list of crushes.

So, here’s today’s top 5 list. Here is my list of celebrity k-drama crushes.

Check it out.

1. Park Seo Joon

Filmography: Itaewon Class, She Was Pretty, Fight My Way, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, Midnight Runners, The Divine Fury

Park Seo Joon was my very first k-drama crush. I watched Itaewon Class in less 24 hours and then proceeded to binge-watch everything that I could get my hands on that starred this fine ass man. I’ve still got some stuff of his to watch but I either can’t find them to watch (legally, anyway) or the storyline isn’t my normal jam so I’ve gotten distracted by something else. I can’t wait for his next project, whether it’s a movie or a drama, because I hella miss watching him in stuff. After months and months of not seeing him in anything new, the little bit that he was in Record of Youth, had me acting like an excited school girl with a crush so seriously, I love this guy.

2. Gong Yoo

Filmography: Goblin, Big, Coffee Prince, Train to Busan, The Suspect, Silenced

While Park Seo Joon was my first k-drama crush, Gong Yoo was my introduction to the world of K-Entertainment. I watched his movie Train to Busan and was like, “Okay, I want more of this. I don’t mind the subtitles and plus, that guy is foine. More of that, please.” And that was that. After discovering k-movies and then after that, k-dramas, I have yet to watch a full American show from beginning to end. So yeah, this guy is responsible for my deep dive into all things Korean entertainment so of course, he’s on my celebrity crush list.

3. Park Hyung Sik

Filmography: Suits, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, The Heirs, Juror 8, Two Lights: Relumino

I’ve been crushing so hard on this guy, ever since watching and LOVING Strong Woman, Do Bong Soon. I thought he was such a great character and his performance was fantastic. I also thought he had great chemistry with Park Bo Young. He’s such a good-looking guy but he’s also a great actor. I loved him in Suits, and I really liked him in Juror 8. From what I saw of the show, he was great in Hwarang and he rocked his long hair wig a lot better than Park Seo Joon did. Haha.

4. Lee Je Hoon

Filmography: Move to Heaven, Taxi Driver, Where Stars Land, Signal, Time to Hunt, Collectors

Lee Je Hoon came onto my radar after watching Time to Hunt and what’s funny is that I hated his character for getting his friends in so much trouble. So when I was looking for a suspense drama to watch and came across Signal, I almost didn’t watch it because I was still mad at him from Time to Hunt. I’m glad that I went ahead and watched Signal because I loved him in there and that show led me to Taxi Drive and Move to Heaven. I have loved him in every single thing that I’ve watched of his and I’m looking for more to jump into. Where Stars Land and Tomorrow with You are on my list.

5. Jang Ki Yong

Filmography: My Roommate is a Gumiho, Search: WWW,My Mister, Born Again, Sweet & Sour, The Bad Guys: Reign of Chaos

Jang Ki Yong is my latest k-drama crush. I just recently discovered him when I started My Roommate is Gumiho but I’ve also discovered that he’s been in some dramas that I’ve watched, I just didn’t know who he was and he didn’t play big characters. I can’t believe he was the same guy that I hated in My Mister. He plays the immortal loner role extremely well and I was all out in love with him in every single episode of My Roommate is Gumiho, even when he was being an immortal weirdo. I’m looking forward to digging into his back list as well. Damn, he’s foine as hell!

Do you watch K-Dramas? Who are some of your k-drama crushes right now?

Eye Candy Friday: Kim Shin

Posted July 24, 2020 by Rowena in Features | 0 Comments

Eye Candy Friday is something that I’ve been doing since I first started my personal blog way back in 2003. That first personal blog is long gone but I’ve never really grown out of the eye candy phase. I’m always up for some eye candy. Whether it’s a character from a book (male or female, I don’t discriminate), a character from a movie or TV Show, if I loved them and want to gush about how much I loved them, you’ll find them here. Thanks for coming along for the ride.

This week, I’m featuring Gong Yoo as Kim Shin in the Korean drama, Goblin. If you haven’t watched Goblin, aka Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, you should fix that. This show was everything that I love and the romance between Kim Shin and Eun Tak was one of the absolute best romances that I’ve watched in like…ever. I put this entire post together, choosing the pictures and everything with a giant smile on my face because I loved this character that much.

I’ll never not think about Kim Shin when it rains. I’ll never not smile and think of Kim Shin when I see Cherry Blossoms. I’ve recommended Goblin to my friends and every single person that watched it, loved it and loved Gong Yoo as Kim Shin. His character is an unforgettable one and Kim Shin is someone everyone should know and that is why I chose him for this week’s Eye Candy. On top of being an amazing character, Gong Yoo is FINE AS HELL.

You’re welcome.
