Happy Monday, everyone!

It’s been a pretty quiet week for me and I spent a lot of it reading, watching my shows, and streaming my faves. J-Hope dropped his last song before he goes to the military and it features J. Cole, his long-time inspiration and idol. It’s a song with a hopeful vibe that I think will do a great job of holding the fandom together while he’s in the military. I loved that the music video shows Hoseok going back to his dancing roots while his idol raps on the rooftop. We need all the YouTube streams we can get for this one so if you’re army (and even if you’re not), please stream On the Street with us!

Jungkook went live this last week and my guy had me dying. He sang for us, he reacted to On the Street with us, and then…my guy went to sleep and left us all on Live. He was slumped so much that he started snoring and they had to cut his live off remotely. Haha, he’s out here living his best life and I love that even after he deleted his IG, he goes on Weverse to make sure we know he’s still alive and well. That’s definitely going to be a huge part of army history. Haha.

What I Watched

Crash Course in Romance | 3.5 out of 5

Crash Course in Romance aired the final episodes this week and while I wasn’t a big fan of the murder story during the course of the telling of it, I wasn’t a big fan of the way that whole thing played out EVEN MORE. The whole thing with the real Mom had me rolling my eyes as well but everything else? Loved. I’ll be reviewing this one soon so be on the look out for that.

Suchwita: This is my favorite show right now. I just really love listening to the different conversations that Yoongi has with all of his guests. They’ve all been different and I’ve liked how each of them has shared their experiences in the music and acting industry and seeing how flustered Yoongi gets with whatever praise they send his way makes me happy. This week, actor Lee Sung Min came through to promote his new movie, The Devil’s Deal and I enjoyed seeing him swap stories of their early days doing music and acting in their hometown of Daegu. I liked how easy their conversation was and how we learned little tidbits of both Suga and Lee Sung Min’s careers.

Our Blooming Youth: This weeks episodes were cute. I’m much more invested in what’s going on, and I wanted to spank the Crown Prince for kicking my girl out. I did love the way that she was cheering against my guy during the competition even though she only had eyes for him.

Jinny’s Kitchen: I am loving this show so much. I love seeing my k-drama bias, Park Seo Joon rock it out in the kitchen and I absolutely adore my BTS bias as he works his ass off as well. I’m also glad that Woo Shik is finally in Mexico and working with everyone. Poor guy was put immediately to work after traveling for 20 hours to get there and then had serious FOMO while washing those dishes. I haven’t watched very many Korean tv shows but I’m really liking them and this one is cute. They’re a nice break from the dramas.

Taxi Driver 2: We only got one episode this week of Taxi Driver (does anyone know what was up with that?) but I was hooked the entire episode, and that ending? Gah, I really need the next episode like now. I wish that our married couple would have acted less cheesy and more like a married couple but I’ll take whatever kind of affection I can get from them. The way that he proposed to her made my heart skip a beat though, not going to lie, haha. I see that the next episode comes out today so I’ll definitely be tuning in for that. While I haven’t loved every episode (or case, I should say), I’m still really loving having this show back.

The Heavenly Idol: I’m trying really hard to like Rembrary but no lie, he annoys the shit out of me. There’s just something about him that makes me want to kick him in the nuts. But then he saves someone using his divine powers and I forget for a little bit that I’m annoyed with him. I’m really liking Kim Dal though. My girl is just trying to power through everything life throws her way and Rembrary be putting a kink in every single one of her days. I am starting to get soft for all of the members of Wild Animal though. I’ll keep watching this, hoping that this episode will be the episode where Rembrary stops getting on my nerves. So far, it happened yet. Maybe next week though.

Traveler: Because we only got one episode of Taxi Driver this week, I started this show to get more of a Lee Je Hoon fix and I’m glad that I did because I watched three episodes of this one and learned a lot of things. I learned that Ryu Jun Yeol’s English name is Anthony and I loved seeing him maneuver his way around Cuba and then once Je Hoon got there, I freaking adored seeing them together. I haven’t watched very many shows like this but I’m thoroughly enjoying this one.

The Weekly Recap (193)

I’m in my strawberry banana smoothie era because I have made so many this week. Not because I’m trying to use the strawberries and bananas before they go bad either. I have been craving it all week. I spent a lot of time this week trying to read a book for my book club that was yesterday and I just couldn’t finish it. One of my goals this year is to read all of my book club books. I’m in two book clubs, one with my book friends and one with my sisters and our daughters, and entering the third month of the year, I’ve already failed in both book clubs. I DNF’d January’s book in my family book club and last month’s book for my book friend’s book club. I’m really hoping that our March picks are a lot better because I can’t fail every single month, haha.

Over the weekend, J-Hope announced that he had started the paperwork for his own military enlistment. He canceled his enlistment postponement and is getting himself ready to join the military ranks with Jin. I’m sad because of all the members, Hoseok has been the most active on social media to keep us fans connected with him so it’ll be lonely on these purple streets without for him two years. I’m really going to need their enlistment to go as fast as Jang Ki Yong’s did. I remember when he left and I blinked and now he’s out. Let’s hope that will be the case with the rest of the members. Hoseok is also dropping a song on Brenna’s birthday (March 3rd) so March is really shaping out to be a really busy month for BTS and ARMY. Seventeen, please enjoy your break…please don’t drop anything until April, I beg. 🙂

What I Watched

Taxi Driver | 4 out of 5

Therese and I decided to watch this drama (I’m watching it again) for this month’s buddy watch and we are loving it. I’m so glad that one of my favorite shows from 2021 is a show that my best friend enjoyed it as well. Even though we’re both in agreement that the first half of this season is a lot better than the second half, we still enjoyed it. Such a great show!

Our Blooming Youth: I think the show has hit its stride for me because I enjoyed this week’s episodes and I’m invested now. The back and forth of trust between the Crown Prince and Jae Yi is gonna give me whiplash but I’m finally on board for it all. I’m starting to think that I have a girl crush on Pyo Ye Jin too because I absolutely adore her character in this show just as much as I enjoy her character in Taxi Driver. I just love her so much. I’m excited for the next couple of episodes.

Run BTS: It’s a sad week! Run BTS has aired their final episode for the time being and I’m so sad but holy cow, that last episode was something else. I’m used to laughing like a hyena whenever I watch any of their shows and that was exactly what I did while watching this one. Jimin had me dying. It was funny to see that the rap line was a lot better at scoring goals in this game than Jimin was, considering how bad they were at foot volleyball. I’m going to miss this show while the boys are off busy doing other things and during their military enlistment. This was such a highlight for my week.

Suchwita: This week’s guest was Tablo from Epik High. I don’t know much about Tablo’s music with Epik High since my introduction to him and his music was through BTS. I have listened to some of his music though and enjoyed it so I plan on listening to more. I really enjoyed this episode of Suchwita. I loved watching them talk about music, their friendship, seeing them being so appreciative of the support and just of each other was super cool. I thought Tablo turning down dinner plans with Yoongi because he had to help his kid with their homework was super cute, too. Yoongi had no idea what to do with that, haha. Seeing that this show has surpassed all of the expectations that Yoongi had for the show and becoming something so much bigger than a talk show where the other members can come and promote their solo stuff makes me so happy. This is at the top of my favorite shows right now.

Seventeen in the Soop 2: What a great show this one turned out to be. I wasn’t expecting any difference, mind you, but I was still surprised at how much I enjoyed seeing the guys relax and spend their days doing whatever it was they wanted. I loved seeing Jeonghan make Hoshi spend the entire day with him. Through these episodes, Jeonghan became one of my favorite members. I’m also really soft for Minghao. Seeing him take care of Vernon was too stinking sweet.

The Heavenly Idol: This week’s episodes were good so I’ll definitely be tuning in for more. I’m LOVING Woo Yeon Woo right now and Kim Dal is a great character that I’m looking forward to more from.

Taxi Driver 2: I freaking love this show. The second half of the first season wasn’t my favorite but the second season seems to have picked back up and I am over the moon about it. This week’s episodes were a lot of fun at the same time that it was infuriating to see the bad guys taking advantage of all of those old folks. I did laugh when they sang Jin’s song though, haha. Ugh, metal balls from Crash Course in Romance is in a new show and already pissing me off. If he don’t mind his damn business…but that ending to next week’s preview????

Call it Love: This show premiered this week and the first two episodes were pretty compelling. Compelling enough that I’m already planning to continue this one. I really like Lee Sung Kyung so I’m looking forward to seeing her story roll out.

Jinny’s Kitchen: Taehyung went to Mexico to film this show with his besties Park Seo Joon and Choi Woo Shik. Of course I tuned in. I loved that this one premiered for our region as well as the Asian region because Disney Plus and their regional restrictions are annoying as hell. This is going to be a fun break between all of the intense revenge dramas that I’m watching right now. I loved seeing V in his dish washing era and I completely adore Park Seo Joon and seeing him when his corndogs burned was too freaking cute.

The Weekly Recap (192)

I didn’t do much this week. Stayed home, watched my shows, streamed my groups, caught up with my Dad and Brenna. I pretty much kept to myself. My sister has some guests staying with us for a little bit so I’ve been getting to know them but aside from that, I’ve just been hanging out at home. It’s time to start planning my next family trip and this time we’re going to TX for my nephew’s high school graduation. Looking at tickets to fly out there and how much it’ll cost to stay out there is enough to make me sad so I’m not thinking about it today. Maybe tomorrow, haha.

I did start planning how I’m going to decorate my room for this year. I’m really big on collages and family pictures, kpop merch and posters so I’m waiting for a couple of Seventeen albums to come in so that I can start putting my room together. I’m low key excited to see how my plan comes together. It’s gorgeous in my head so let’s see if it’s gorgeous when all is said and done. Wish me luck! I’ll post pictures once I’m all done, I promise.

I watched my first movies of the year this week and while I loved J-Hopes documentary, I only liked Unlocked and Your Place and Mine. They were fine watches but they won’t make any of my best of lists at the end of the year.

Our Blooming Youth: So far, this drama is just okay for me. What’s keeping me going are the main leads. Park Hyung Shik’s visuals is serving though. He looks really good and even though I’m not completely hooked right now, I’m going to keep watching it because between him and Pyo Ye Jin, I’ll keep on soldiering on.

Run BTS: I heard this is going to be the last episode for a while and that made me sad because these episodes bring me so much joy. This episode wasn’t any different. Seeing everyone together, having fun and making each other laugh is always so much fun. This episode kicks off the first of two episodes where the boys are playing mini field games. In this week’s episode, the boys played fencing and volleyball and I cackled throughout the entire episode. From Jin’s practicing and still being so terrible at volleyball to him starting every rumor under the sun about Suga and the many sports he’s been doing lately, to V’s goofy way of playing both sports and still being super good, the episode delivered what it was supposed to deliver. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s episode and then I’m sure I’ll be super sad.

Crash Course in Romance: While I’m liking this show, I don’t think I’m liking it as much as everyone else seems to. It’s one of the better shows that I’m watching right now but it’s not my favorite. I am liking the high school characters, I’m also enjoying the romance between the main leads, but the murder plot has me scratching my head because I honestly don’t really care about that part of the show but I’ve been side-eyeing the assistant for most of this show so I’m not at all surprised at the turn of events where he’s concerned. And I still want to fight that one Mom. You know which one…this one.

She is the absolute worst and I better see her get her comeuppance. Grr.

The Heavenly Idol: I wasn’t completely blown away with the first two episodes of this show but I’m going to power through since I’m curious enough about the main male lead. The main female lead looks like Kim Taeri and Beomgyu from TXT to me. Really gorgeous but I don’t remember her from anything that I’ve seen before so I’ll keep on watching this one to see if it gets better.

Taxi Driver 2: The Rainbow Deluxe Taxi Service is back in business, bitches! I’m super pumped (*in J-Hopes voice*) to see my boo thang in action again. Kim Do Gi and Ahn Go Eun are back!!! The first two episodes were fantastic and has me so hyped for what else is to come. I haven’t been this excited for a show since Alchemy of Souls 2 ended. Kim Do Gi spent his time getting prettier since the last time we saw him. *swoon*

The Weekly Recap (191)

Not much to report this week. My introverted ass stayed in the house, didn’t watch a lot of dramas as I was listening to a lot of music. Mostly k-pop (cause let’s be real), but I did also listen to a lot of old school slow jams. I didn’t watch the Super Bowl because I’m not a football fan and I’m not going to pretend to be one either. I did, however, watch Rihanna’s halftime show and I thought she did amazing and I also thought her prego belly looked super adorable. I liked the dancers, her singing, and just everything about it. I’m not even a fan like that but shit, I might be now. 🙂

Now, let’s get into all of the things that I did last week…

What I Watched

The Interest of Love | 3.5 out of 5

The Interest of Love ended this past week and I’m not that beat up about it. It was a hard show to watch but because it was super compelling and my nosy ass wanted to find out where all of the drama ended, I didn’t drop it. In the end, I almost didn’t watch the last two episodes because someone on Twitter mentioned that they didn’t get together and they felt cheated a bit so I was going to skip it but I’m not sure what made me want to finish it out but I did and I’m not that mad about the ending. It’s not a show that I would watch again and it’s not my favorite show of the any of the actors but I feel a little accomplished for finishing it out? Haha, yeah.

Suchwita: I watched this episode with Hoshi from Seventeen three times. I have enjoyed all of the episodes so far and am really looking forward to the future of this show but this one hit different and made my ArmyCarat heart super happy. We’ve seen Suga blush and fanboy over his idol and it was good to see someone fanboying over him, making him blush. Hoshi is one of my very favorites parts of Seventeen and I thought he represented them, himself, and BooSeokSoon so well.

Our Blooming Youth: It’s so good to see Park Hyung Shik in action again. My guy’s been busy since he got out of the military and I’m here for all of it. The first two episodes have successfully captured my interest so I’m all in. I’m already happy to see Hyung Shik, pissed off at the bad guys and mighty curious about the female lead (who is new to me) so yeah, I’m definitely be tuning in. My girl, Go Eun, from Taxi Driver is in this one too. Yay!!

Crash Course in Romance: I’m on episode 6 so I still have a few more episodes to watch before I’m all caught up with where the show is right now and I’m not going to lie, it took me longer to get into this show than I thought it would. Everyone that I follow on K-Drama Twitter loves this show so I thought I would too and while I’m finally enjoying it, I almost thought this would be a miss for me. I’m glad that I stuck with it though, cause it really picked up and I’m invested.

Seventeen in the Soop 2: In this week’s episode Jeonghan and DK ate a raw onion together and as an onion hating person, that grossed me out but everything else was great. From DK and Hoshi jumping into the lake together because DK lost another bet to Hoshi shooting his own music video with the drone, to the egg thing with S Coups in the sauna, everything made me laugh or smile and made my week just that much better. Seeing these guys relax and enjoy eachother’s company after the grueling schedules that they have to keep up with is very healing for me as well and I just love this show so much.

What I’m Listening To

Second Wind by BooSeokSoon from Seventeen

This is my first BSS comeback (I hear it’s theirs too) and it’s been such a fun time. The way that these guys are so unserious and super extra made for such a fun comeback. I have been enjoying seeing these guys make their promo circuit, having fun with the MV release, the music show performances, and just everything. I’m loving seeing everyone doing the Fighting dance challenge with the different members of BSS. The dance challenge with DK and his family was SUPER adorable but I also loved seeing Suga jump in on this as well. I’ll be reviewing the album (something that I think I’m going to be adding to the blog as I start getting more and more into k-pop outside of BTS) so you’ll be seeing that very soon. Anyway, BSS has been added to my streaming playlist so that I can support these guys along with BTS. Love, love, love all three of these guys!

I didn’t get around to starting Money Heist Korea 2 and The Fabulous. I’m sure I’ll be adding those shows to this month’s line up. Fingers crossed, anyway. I did a decent job of keeping up with all of my dramas considering how busy I was in December. I did a lot of traveling and forced family fun so that cramped my drama watching quite a bit but when there’s a will, there’s a way.
