It is the second week of Season 8 of Game of Thrones and we got another pretty fantastic episode from the writers and creators of our favorite show. There’s a lot of stuff that went down in this episode and I’m going to cover all of the things that I actually care about…which in this one, is pretty much all of it.
Last week’s episode ended with Jamie arriving in Winterfell with a jarring welcome from none other than Brandon Stark aka The Three-Eyed Raven. Jamie hasn’t seen Bran since he pushed him out the window in SEASON ONE! Jamie isn’t the same person that he was back then but neither is Bran and Jamie knows that he’s going to meet with a lot of animosity for the stuff that he’s put the Starks through and hell, now that Daenerys is in Winterfell as well, he’s going to get a lot of shit from her too but he still came because he’s there to fight for the living.
Dude, a lot of this episode was spent on Jamie’s apology tour. He made his rounds, apologizing to everyone that he hurt and the redemption arc of Jamie Lannister is almost to a close. Jamie’s character is one that has caused a lot of harm but has also grown quite a bit over the course of the series. There are still things that people will never forgive him for (that sex scene against Joffrey’s death bed being one of them) and I get it. I do like that he’s grown and he’s a much better person now than he was before. I liked the way that Brienne and Tyrion stood up for him and I even liked the way that Dany seemed a little unpleased that everyone wanted to spare his life. Haha, girl if you don’t cut it out…
Arya is a woman now, yall!!
She wasn’t going to die before she experienced the pleasures of being a woman with a man that she’s been eyeing since she was a wee lass. Haha, she went about divesting of her virginity in a way that only Arya can. By going after it. She went after Gendry with a determination that took me by surprise by I wasn’t surprised that Gendry would be all in because she is his lady, after all…haha. I’m glad that these two were able to find a bit of happiness on the night before the big war. They’ve both been through so much and they deserved that night. Awww, one of my ships sailed straight to Pound Town. Yippy!!
I was so glad to see that our friends that were at Eastwatch by the Sea were alive and as well as they could be after surviving the attack by the white walker army at the wall. It was good to see them back and safe at Winterfell, reunited with Jon and the other brothers of the watch. I also loved that Tormund’s first question upon arriving at Winterfell was, “Is the big woman here?”
These guys bring the bad news that the White Walker Army took out Last Hearth and they’re on their way to Winterfell. The war is a lot closer than they thought and though they’re not ready, the war is here anyway. Gah, I love this freaking show! I loved how happy Jon was to see his brothers and friends back and I loved seeing them all reunited again.
Oh man, this scene had me all teary eyed. Tormund wanted to knight Brienne ten times over but since he’s not a Knight, he couldn’t so Jamie did it instead. The whole time that Brienne is trying to fake the funk like she don’t want to be no damn knight, I was like girl, if you don’t knock it off and get down on your knee so he can do his thing…and then he did it and I was over the moon about it because Brienne is a knight! She’s a freaking badass knight who is going to lead her own charge into the war! I so loved this scene so much! Jamie loves you Brienne, you are worthy!
Most of the episode felt like a giant farewell pity party. It felt like Podrick should have sung It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye by Boys II Men instead of whatever song he actually sang. I liked seeing everyone bonding over drinks. We had a lot of people who have been through a lot together, on both sides of the wars they fought and we had a lot of family and friend bonding too. I was a little surprised at how cozy Sansa and Theon looked but then again, it makes sense since Sansa has forgiven him for the wrongs he did to her family after saving her from that monster Ramsay. After all of this bonding, stepping onto the battlefield with old enemies will be a lot easier, I think.
Toward the end of the episode, we see Daenerys find Jon Snow in the Winterfell Crypts. Jon is staring at Lyanna Stark’s statue and when Daenerys starts to talk about her brother raping Lyanna, Jon puts an end to that talk. He comes right out and tells her the truth about the love story between her brother Rhagar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark and then he finishes by telling her, his real name and title.
The episode ends with the White Walker Army in view of Winterfell. The battle is upon us guys. We didn’t see the Night King though I’m sure he’ll make his presence known pretty quickly. I can’t wait to see the biggest battle scene of TV history come to life. There’s much that still needs to be dealt with but nows not the time for all of that. We’ll have to wait to see how the battle between Sansa and Daenerys plays out. To see if it even does play out. We’ll have to wait to see what Cersei does while everyone is fighting for her to have another day to win the war for the Iron Throne. She needs to die. I can’t wait to see her die.
I’m low key salty that we’ve gotten hella reunions for every damn body on this show but we didn’t get a reunion between Ghost and Jon Snow. He just pops on the scene behind Jon like a ghost and nobody reacts….except me. I reacted. I cheered when we saw him so since we were robbed of that reunion, we better get an Arya and Nymeria reunion that will make me happy.
Gah, there are only 4 more episodes left. I’m not ready for this ride to be over. Wahhhh!
Until next week…enjoy!
Winter is finally here, bitches! After over a year of waiting for the new season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, it’s finally back and I’m here to talk about this week’s episode because I need to get all of this out. The main theme of this week’s episode was reunions and a lot of the reunions that I’ve been itching for happened and I’m a happy camper. I’m just going to a rundown of my thoughts, by each family.
Jon: Poor Jon. Everyone is mad at him and he’s just trying to protect everyone from the bigger threat that is heading their way. Last season, I was too busy cheering that my ship finally met and set sail on the Ocean of Bang City that I didn’t even realize the shitstorm he was walking into. Heading home to the people that crowned him King, only he’s not a King anymore. He gave the crown away and he’s bringing a stranger Queen with him. A Queen with a family history that doesn’t speak well for them and their home. It seems that the person that is the most pissed at him is Sansa. I don’t think Jon understands where Sansa is coming from. Or that he understands what Sansa has been through, losing her home, her safe place and then returning and finally feeling safe again for Jon to give away their home again to a Southern girl that Sansa doesn’t know or trust.
As if that wasn’t enough shit at Jon’s door, he’s also dealt the parent blow from Sam. He’s not Jon Snow, Eddard Stark isn’t his father. He’s been lied to his whole life and he just gave up his crown but now Sam is trying to saddle him with more titles and more crowns? Haha, honestly, poor Jon. I knew that Jon was going to find out the truth about who he really is in the first episode but I thought Daenerys would find out with him and that it would be the kind of conflict that is out in the front of them from the jump but only Jon knows right now…is he going to tell Daenerys the truth or wait?
Sansa: It’s so funny to see how much I love Sansa these days. During my first go-round of the series (I started the show when the first season premiered so I didn’t get to binge it), I could not stand her. She made so many bad choices as a young girl, worried about the wrong things, pouted too much and I just didn’t like her character at all. I felt like Arya did…but after watching the entire series again to prepare myself this season, my feelings toward Sansa changed and she’s still not one of my favorites but I admire the hell out of her and I understood her instant dislike of Daenerys. Daenerys better not underestimate Sansa…that would be bad for Daenerys. Very bad for her.
Arya: I was so here for Arya’s reunion with Jon. I think of everything that I was looking forward to with this season, their reunion was near the very top of that list. It’s been years since they’ve seen each other and unlike Sansa, Jon has always had such a great relationship with the youngest Stark sister. Seeing each other after all these years, Jon returns to Winterfell and everyone is mad at him. I loved seeing Arya remind him that he’s a Stark, that he’s from the North and the North remembers. She loves him but she also wants him to remember that the North isn’t going to accept Daenerys just because he fell in love with her. Her family was responsible for a lot of the bad stuff that happened in the North and that’s not something that can be willed away just because Jon is focused on the bigger picture. It was also nice to see her stick up for Sansa, something that surprised even Jon. Still, at the end of the day, they’re family and Arya needs Jon to remember that. Gah, I loved it!
Another reunion that I was pretty anxious for was the reunion between Arya and her boo thang, Gendry. I loved seeing a lighter side to Arya, a side that Gendry is the only person that could bring out in the little assassin. She freaking giggled like a school girl and flirted with him. Awww, I love that Arya has love interest because I did ship Gendry and Arya back when they were traveling together all those seasons ago. I was hoping that when Gendry hit the scene for the first time this season that we’d get this Gendry:
But, we can’t get everything we want and I still got the Arya and Gendry reunion that I wanted so that’s something.
Bran: This guy, man. Ever since he became the three-eyed raven, he’s morphed into the crazy uncle that stares off into the distance at every family gathering and everyone thinks he’s sleeping but nope, he’s just creeping on everyone and everything.
He’s in the background for the most part of episode 1, quietly moving the pieces around to fit his purposes. Telling Sam that he needs to tell Jon the truth about his parents right now. Telling Daenerys that they don’t have time for iron throne shit, the white walker army is fast approaching. And waiting for Jamie Lannister to get to Winterfell so that he can scare the shit out of him. I’m so here for finding out how things pan out for Bran this season. Will he end up being the Night King? Will he help the living win the war against the army of the dead? Fingers crossed.
That was a boss ass move that he made to the end the episode though. Bwahahahaha, freaking Bran. I love that strange little warg. The look on Jamie’s face was priceless…haha, he thought he would get away with slipping in undetected. Bran was sitting there waiting the whole damn episode for his old friend.
Daenerys: If I was annoyed with anyone in this episode, it was Daenerys. The way that she came swooping into Winterfell like she was the head bitch in town didn’t sit well with me. I mean, sure, she is the head bitch in town but Jon warned her that though he bent the knee to her, the North wasn’t going to fold so easily to her. Queen or not. I felt like she’s still the woman that wants to take back the throne she believes is rightfully hers no matter the cost. She’s so different from Jon Snow. Her attitude while in Winterfell felt like if she couldn’t get their love and devotion, she’ll settle for their fear. I don’t mess with that sort of thinking. Sansa and the North ain’t about that life either. She needs to earn their love and devotion, the way that Jon did. Sweeping into town like she’s come to save them from a villain they don’t even completely believe in ain’t the way. The North ain’t the one.
I’m really curious to see how she’ll deal with the fact that the throne she wants so bad belongs to Jon, not her. I don’t think Jon being her nephew is going to matter to her. She’s probably used to that with who her family is but, Jon? He just finds out that he’s banging his Aunt and he didn’t seem bothered by it either. LOL.
The whole scene with Sam didn’t go the way that she imagined it would go. She goes to him, to thank him for saving her friend and she ends up having to tell him that she killed his father and his brother. I wonder if she’ll start to realize that her actions have consequences, that in her quest to rise to the top, she’s done things that affect everyone around her. Hmm.
Jamie: Bwahahahaha, oh Jamie. Your past sins are coming back to bite you in the ass. I can’t wait to see you complete your redeem mission over the course of this season but hahaha, I’m still laughing at your face when you saw Bran at the end of the last episode.
Cersei: This bitch gives not one shit about anyone but herself. She continues to use her power for evil and now she’s going in on her brothers? The only family she has left? Hahaha, I can’t wait for Sansa to kill her ass. Please let Sansa be the one to kill her. Pretty, pretty please writers. As cool as I think elephants would be awesome on the show, I’m glad Cersei didn’t get them. Hahaha.
Tyrion: We didn’t get a lot of Tyrion this episode. I mean, he’s there but he’s mostly in the background. His reunion with Sansa went exactly as I hoped it would. I thought Sansa slayed that scene because Tyrion needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Cersei is evil and she will never care about anyone other than herself.
Euron: He’s definitely going to turn on Cersei. He’s the kind of guy that cheers for whoever is winning and Cersei ain’t winning shit. He’s going to end up trying to get with Sansa after Sansa kills Cersei. Haha.
Yara: Hmm…can’t really say that I cared much about her scenes. I’m glad she’s out from under her Uncles thumb and that she’s as safe as she can be right now but as far as anything else? Meh.
Theon: I stopped caring about Theon when he turned on the Starks. Like Jon, I don’t hate him but I don’t care about him either. More meh for him.
Overall, this episode was more of a set up for the rest of the season so it was a lot slower than I thought it’d be. I wasn’t mad about that though. I still enjoyed the episode. The reunions of cast members that haven’t seen each other since the beginning of this journey hit me in the feels and I loved seeing loved ones reunited and happy to be reunited with loved ones. I was super happy to see that Tormund and the others with him are alive and well, or as well as can be. I was super pissed that once again, House Glover refused the call. Stupid ass Glover. I hope the Night King gets them first.
I thought certain things would play out a certain way and though I was wrong about that, I’m still hopeful that the rest of the season will knock everyone on their asses and that it’s going to be a memorable season. There are a lot of things that I’m curious about, a lot of things I’m anxious for but I’m going to wait it out and see what else I’m wrong about. LOL.
What else does Bran see and what else is he going to do? Will Jon tell Daenerys the truth about who he really is now or not? What will go down between Sansa and Daenerys? Who is going to die first? Is Cersei really pregnant? Is Bron really going to kill Jamie and Tyrion? There’s just so much to look keep track of but I’ll try my hardest here on the blog, every week for the next six weeks.
Until next week…enjoy!
Eye Candy Friday is all about the heroes that I’m loving and wanting to spotlight right now. Sometimes I’ll do full-on gush fest posts on why I love these guys, sometimes I’ll post pictures of what I think these guys look like and that’s it but if they’re featured here, the one thing that will be constant is I loved the hell out of these guys and want everyone to know. Thanks for coming along for the ride.
You guys, it’s Game of Thrones week. After a long ass wait, we are finally going to find out the fate of all of our favorites from this fucked up and yet, still quite addicting show. Today’s boyfriend is Jon Snow. From the very first moment that we meet him in the first season, I’ve had a soft spot for him. I hated all of his enemies and rejoiced in all of his victories. His story has been my favorite from the jump and I’m pretty anxious to see where his character ends up after the long night.
He’s been through a lot over the course of this series and in two days, the final season begins and I’m so excited. Like Jessie Spano from Saved by the Bell excited. I’m sure that the writers and producers are going to knock us on our asses with each of these final episodes and I’m so here for it.
Here’s my boo thang from previous seasons…
Game of Thrones
Until next week…enjoy!
I’m back in the swing of things with the blog and I knew that my first Eye Candy Friday post back was going to be one that doesn’t need an introduction. Someone who has been featured before because he really is this awesome and I really do love him this much. This week’s Eye Candy Friday is…Jon Snow.
Just in case you need an introduction, here’s one from my boy Davos:
I’ll be here forever sharing my favorite Jon Snow gifs but well, you get the idea. I love him.
Just in case you need an introduction, here’s one from my boy Davos:
You don’t believe him. I understand that. It sounds like nonsense. But if destiny has brought Daenerys Targaryen back to our shores, it has also made Jon Snow King in the North. You were the first to bring Dothraki to Westeros? He is the first to make allies of wildlings and Northmen. He was named Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. He was named King in the North. Not because of his birthright. He has no birthright. He’s a damn bastard. All those hard sons of bitches chose him as their leader because they believe in him. All those things you don’t believe in, he faced those things. He fought those things for the good of his people. He risked his life for his people. He took a knife in the heart for his people. He gave his own l-…

Memorable Quotes from Season 7
My father always said, “The man that passes the sentence, swings the sword,” and I have tried to live by those words. But I will not punish a son for his father’s sins.
They fought together, against their common enemy. And we need to do the same if we’re going to survive.
Touch my sister, and I’ll kill you myself.
You all crowned me your king. I never wanted it. I never asked for it. But I accepted it because the North is my home. It’s part of me, and I will never stop fighting for it, no matter the odds. But the odds are against us. None of you have seen the Army of the Dead. None of you. We can never hope to defeat them alone. We need allies, powerful allies. I know it’s a risk. But I have to take it.
I’m not going to swear an oath I can’t uphold. When enough people make false promises, words stop meaning anything. Then there are no more answers, only better and better lies.Lady Lyanna Mormont from House Mormont speaks for me with this:
But House Mormont remembers. The North remembers. We know no king, but the kind in the North who’s name is Stark. I don’t care if he’s a bastard, Ned Stark’s blood runs through his veins. He’s my king. From this day, until his last day.
Until next week…enjoy!
There will only be one show talked about this week. I’m all caught up on all of my shows but this week’s post will be all about Game of Throne’s season 7 finale so like previous weeks, this post is going to be filled to the brim with spoilers so stay away if you haven’t watched the finale. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW, READ ON AT YOUR OWN RISK.
This is what I looked like throughout the whole episodes (both times I watched it):
I freaking loved this episode. There was so much action, angst, and just…stuff going on that I couldn’t watch it fast enough. If I had a gripe, it would have been the Theon stuff. Sure, his character needs that redemption but since I don’t care for his character, I didn’t need it. The other gripe that I thought about would be…where was Gendry? I missed him.
Anyway, let’s get on with it…
Alright, so I’ve been really curious about how this was going to turn out. All of the big players in one venue for the first time. It’s one of those things where once again, everyone in attendance hates each other but they really need to put their differences aside and discuss more important matters. Matters of life and death.
I had a feeling that Cersei was going to do exactly what she did and I was so happy to see that Jamie did exactly what I wanted him to do. The right thing. I honestly think that his redemption arc ends with him killing the Mad Queen. And I think Cersei is the Mad Queen, not Daenerys. I think he’s going to be the one that kills Cersei or will play an important part in killing Cersei for the better of the realm.
I love Jon Snow. Every week before an episode begins, I don’t think that I could love this man more than I do but I’m always wrong because I loved Jon more this week than any other week and that’s big. I loved when he said that he couldn’t serve two queens and he’s already pledged himself to his Queen Daenerys. Goodness, he’s Ned Stark through and through. <3
HA!!! Take that to everyone who doubted Arya!
The minute that Arya walks into the great hall and Bran is sitting next to Sansa, I knew that they were all in it together. I knew that what I thought was right…was right dammit. LOL. Oh man, I love being right.
Arya is right. Being Lady of Winterfell suits Sansa. If I was wrong about anything this season, it was her. I haven’t liked her character since the beginning and for some reason, I thought she’d continue to disappoint me but she’s been surprising me at every turn. I thought for sure that Cersei would have influenced her a lot more than she did and while you can see that Sansa has learned a lot from Cersei, at her core, she’s a Stark…and Stark’s are the good guys. She hit it on the nose when she said, “I’m a slow learner, it’s true. But I learn.” She’s grown into such a strong woman and an even stronger leader and I know that her parents would be proud of the woman she’s grown up to be.
It was a great scene, seeing the Stark pack come together to survive. I would say RIP Littlefinger but I don’t want him to rest peacefully. He doesn’t deserve it, in my eyes.
Am I the only person that took Jamie’s, “I don’t believe you” to Cersei as he doesn’t believe she’s pregnant and he’s done with her trying to manipulate him by using their children? There’s nobody left. It’s just the two of them and then she holds her stomach and he’s like, “Nope. You ain’t fooling me this time.”
Like I said earlier, I saw the Cersei shenanigans going down but I’m super glad that Jamie ain’t going to stick around and be her little lap dog. You go and keep your word, Jamie.
I can get behind a Bran and Sam bromance. I’m glad to see that Bran and Sam talked because now they know the truth….and it’s going to be interesting seeing them tell Jon. I’m sure that some time will be spent on the angst of Daenerys losing the right to the throne though I’m sure that Jon will give her the throne since he doesn’t want it. Still, these two together will be good for the realm. Bran sees everything and so he’ll help Sam record everything in the book that they’re going to write together…to tell the story of the song of fire and ice.
The coming together of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen was inevitable. They’ve got some big time feelings for each other and everyone can see it. Everyone knows it. They acted on those feelings this week and holy cow. The internet exploded with yays and some nays and I’m here for it.
They’ve gone through such different journeys, such separate journeys that have brought them together but I’ve wanted these two to come together in the exact way that they’ve come together since I started liking both of them back in season 1. Sure, I could have done without them being related but their union makes sense in the world that GRRM created for these characters and the love that is strong and true between these guys is such a sight to behold. I love it.
I’m pretty anxious to see what next season has in store for these two. My theory is that they will find out the truth but will struggle with different things. Dany will struggle with her purpose since Jon will be the rightful heir to everything she’s fighting for. She will struggle with his new title and will wonder if she’ll have to fight him before Cersei. I think his struggle will be coming to grips with who he truly is. He won’t feel like a true Stark. He won’t feel like a true Targaryen..and I think him telling Theon this week that he’s a Greyjoy AND he’s a Stark was foreshadowing of his struggle next season. He will struggle with Ned’s lies and won’t realize that Ned was protecting him with those lies at first. He will bend the knee to Daenerys in the end because his love for her will be far more important to him than the throne and then he’s going to die a noble death and Dany will raise their baby dragons on the throne after Jamie kills Cersei. LOL.
The wall falling marks that winter is freaking here. That big ass white walker army FINALLY made it to the wall after walking there all season long. We also see ice dragon Viserion in action and whoa. Just whoa.
The end is near guys…and I can’t even deal with all of it. The end. The war. The baby dragons. The ice dragon. I can’t deal with any of it. Still, this season was freaking great.
What did you think of this season? What did you think of the finale? What do you see happening next season? What do you WANT to happen next season? Let’s talk!
