It is the second week of Season 8 of Game of Thrones and we got another pretty fantastic episode from the writers and creators of our favorite show. There’s a lot of stuff that went down in this episode and I’m going to cover all of the things that I actually care about…which in this one, is pretty much all of it.
Jamie Lannister in Winterfell

Last week’s episode ended with Jamie arriving in Winterfell with a jarring welcome from none other than Brandon Stark aka The Three-Eyed Raven. Jamie hasn’t seen Bran since he pushed him out the window in SEASON ONE! Jamie isn’t the same person that he was back then but neither is Bran and Jamie knows that he’s going to meet with a lot of animosity for the stuff that he’s put the Starks through and hell, now that Daenerys is in Winterfell as well, he’s going to get a lot of shit from her too but he still came because he’s there to fight for the living.
Dude, a lot of this episode was spent on Jamie’s apology tour. He made his rounds, apologizing to everyone that he hurt and the redemption arc of Jamie Lannister is almost to a close. Jamie’s character is one that has caused a lot of harm but has also grown quite a bit over the course of the series. There are still things that people will never forgive him for (that sex scene against Joffrey’s death bed being one of them) and I get it. I do like that he’s grown and he’s a much better person now than he was before. I liked the way that Brienne and Tyrion stood up for him and I even liked the way that Dany seemed a little unpleased that everyone wanted to spare his life. Haha, girl if you don’t cut it out…
Arya and Gendry Get Down

Arya is a woman now, yall!!
She wasn’t going to die before she experienced the pleasures of being a woman with a man that she’s been eyeing since she was a wee lass. Haha, she went about divesting of her virginity in a way that only Arya can. By going after it. She went after Gendry with a determination that took me by surprise by I wasn’t surprised that Gendry would be all in because she is his lady, after all…haha. I’m glad that these two were able to find a bit of happiness on the night before the big war. They’ve both been through so much and they deserved that night. Awww, one of my ships sailed straight to Pound Town. Yippy!!
Tormund and Team Arrive in Winterfell

I was so glad to see that our friends that were at Eastwatch by the Sea were alive and as well as they could be after surviving the attack by the white walker army at the wall. It was good to see them back and safe at Winterfell, reunited with Jon and the other brothers of the watch. I also loved that Tormund’s first question upon arriving at Winterfell was, “Is the big woman here?”
These guys bring the bad news that the White Walker Army took out Last Hearth and they’re on their way to Winterfell. The war is a lot closer than they thought and though they’re not ready, the war is here anyway. Gah, I love this freaking show! I loved how happy Jon was to see his brothers and friends back and I loved seeing them all reunited again.
Brienne gets Knighted

Oh man, this scene had me all teary eyed. Tormund wanted to knight Brienne ten times over but since he’s not a Knight, he couldn’t so Jamie did it instead. The whole time that Brienne is trying to fake the funk like she don’t want to be no damn knight, I was like girl, if you don’t knock it off and get down on your knee so he can do his thing…and then he did it and I was over the moon about it because Brienne is a knight! She’s a freaking badass knight who is going to lead her own charge into the war! I so loved this scene so much! Jamie loves you Brienne, you are worthy!
The Last Night

Most of the episode felt like a giant farewell pity party. It felt like Podrick should have sung It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye by Boys II Men instead of whatever song he actually sang. I liked seeing everyone bonding over drinks. We had a lot of people who have been through a lot together, on both sides of the wars they fought and we had a lot of family and friend bonding too. I was a little surprised at how cozy Sansa and Theon looked but then again, it makes sense since Sansa has forgiven him for the wrongs he did to her family after saving her from that monster Ramsay. After all of this bonding, stepping onto the battlefield with old enemies will be a lot easier, I think.
Jon Snow Tells Daenerys the Truth

Toward the end of the episode, we see Daenerys find Jon Snow in the Winterfell Crypts. Jon is staring at Lyanna Stark’s statue and when Daenerys starts to talk about her brother raping Lyanna, Jon puts an end to that talk. He comes right out and tells her the truth about the love story between her brother Rhagar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark and then he finishes by telling her, his real name and title.
Final Thoughts

The episode ends with the White Walker Army in view of Winterfell. The battle is upon us guys. We didn’t see the Night King though I’m sure he’ll make his presence known pretty quickly. I can’t wait to see the biggest battle scene of TV history come to life. There’s much that still needs to be dealt with but nows not the time for all of that. We’ll have to wait to see how the battle between Sansa and Daenerys plays out. To see if it even does play out. We’ll have to wait to see what Cersei does while everyone is fighting for her to have another day to win the war for the Iron Throne. She needs to die. I can’t wait to see her die.
I’m low key salty that we’ve gotten hella reunions for every damn body on this show but we didn’t get a reunion between Ghost and Jon Snow. He just pops on the scene behind Jon like a ghost and nobody reacts….except me. I reacted. I cheered when we saw him so since we were robbed of that reunion, we better get an Arya and Nymeria reunion that will make me happy.
Gah, there are only 4 more episodes left. I’m not ready for this ride to be over. Wahhhh!
Until next week…enjoy!
