I’m a list person. I have a list for every single thing in my life from a to-do list, a list of books that I want to read, a running shopping list, and in the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing different k-entertainment lists that I’ve been keeping track of. You’ll be seeing my top 5 lists of stuff like my current celebrity crushes, my favorite k-drama female protagonists, my favorite k-drama male protagonists, my to-be-watched k-dramas, and you know, stuff like that.
This week’s Wednesday Five will feature the dramas that I was so excited for and didn’t live up to the hype. And by hype, I mean, the hype that I was giving it in my head.
Where to Watch: Viki, Prime Video
Starring: Kim Hyun Joong, Jung So Min, Lee Tae Sung
I was looking forward to watching this one because my niece recommended it. It was one of the first dramas she watched and loved so I thought it was going to be good. This show was not for me. At all. Everyone drove me crazy and I wanted to spank the main leads for too much of the show so this was a big disappointment to me.
Where to Watch: Viki
Starring: Park Seo Joon, Go Ah Ra, Park Hyung Shik
This drama was my introduction to BTS. I tried watching this show because Park Seo Joon starred in it but I could not get into the show but I loved Han Sung. I loved him so much that I googled him, found out he was in a boy band and listened to ONE SONG and fell down the rabbit hole. I wish I had loved this show as much as I ended up loving BTS.
Where to Watch: Netflix
Starring: Son Ye Jin, Jung Hae In, Jang So Yeon
When I saw this while browsing Netflix for something to watch, I was super excited because I enjoyed both Son Ye Jin in Crash Landing on You and I loved Jung Hae In in everything that I’d seen him in but this drama just didn’t work for me. It drove me up the wall and whatever I thought I was excited to see was never delivered and that bummed me out a lot because I wanted to fight Son Ye Jin in this drama so many different times.
Where to Watch: Viki, Prime Video
Starring: Lee Da Hee, Choi Shi Won, Jo Soo Hyang
I thought I was going to get a nice rom-com with this one that was reminiscent of Revolutionary Love but whatever I thought this was gonna be, it wasn’t. I couldn’t stand the female lead so much that it started to ruin the rest of the show for me so yeah, this one didn’t hit for me at all.
Where to Watch: Viki
Starring: Kang So Ra, Jang Seung Jo, Jo Eun Ji
Of the shows that released last month, this was at the top of my most excited for new dramas and then I started it and realized that it just wasn’t for me. I wasn’t a fan of anything so I quit it and have moved on. I really doubt that I’ll go back and finish it. All the hype I had for it died once the show started. Oh well, they can’t always be winners.
Are there any dramas that you were looking forward to and they just didn’t live up to the hype you had for it?

I’m a list person. I have a list for every single thing in my life from a to-do list, a list of books that I want to read, a running shopping list, and in the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing different k-entertainment lists that I’ve been keeping track of. You’ll be seeing my top 5 lists of stuff like my current celebrity crushes, my favorite k-drama female protagonists, my favorite k-drama male protagonists, my to-be-watched k-dramas, and you know, stuff like that.
This week’s Wednesday Five will feature the last five dramas that I dropped. I’m trying to drop shows early on so that I’m not wasting a lot of time on shows that just don’t interest me, whether they’re popular online or not. I used to have to watch every single episode of every show that I watched but that shit is for the birds. If I’m not invested by episode 3, I’m out…and here are the last five shows that I’ve dropped.
Where to Watch: Viki
Starring: Kang Ha Neul, Ha Ji Won, Go Doo Shim
I really wanted to like this one since I’m a fan of Kang Ha Neul but I just wasn’t that interested in any of the characters (Kang Ha Neul’s included) or the story so I’m noped right out of this one after three episodes. Sorry Kang Ha Neul, I’ll try again on your next project.
Where to Watch: Hulu
Starring: Seo Kang Joon, Kim Ah Joong, Kim Mu Yeol
I didn’t mean to start this show. It just started playing after one episode of Revenge of Others and before I knew what was what, it was the start of episode 4 and I couldn’t tell you who was who, what was what and so I turned it off. Maybe I’ll go back to it and finish it someday but that someday isn’t going to be any time soon. But for Seo Kang Joon, I’m not counting this one out. He’s fine as hell, haha.
Where to Watch: Viki
Starring: Choi Si Won, Lee Da Hee, Jo Soo Hyang
I was so excited about this show. I’m not even sure why but there’s something about Choi Si Won in a rom-com that really just does it for me but I got about halfway through this drama before I dropped it for good. I couldn’t stand Yu Reum because she kept saving her job at the expense of Jae Hoon. And because he was in love with her, he did whatever she needed him to do. She just kept right on using him for everything under the sun, under the guise of friendship and it annoyed the hell out of me. Even when she realizes she’s in love with him too, she was STILL doing mean shit to him and I got so fed up with her that I kicked this drama to the curb and never looked back.
I’m not at all mad that I stopped watching it.
Where to Watch: Netflix
Starring: Kim Hyun Joo, Park Hee Soon, Kim Mu Yeol
After the first episode of this one, I stopped it. It was like the fifth show that was intense and had a deep story and I just wasn’t in the mood for it. I still haven’t decided if I’ll go back and finish it eventually but for the moment, I had to drop it because it was too much for me mentally.
Where to Watch: Viki
Starring: Kang So Ra, Jang Seung Jo, Jo Eun Ji
This wasn’t a show that I thought I’d drop. I went into this one for both main leads but the story wasn’t what I was expecting and I wasn’t really a big fan of anything after four episodes. I quit this one mid-episode of the fifth episode and yeah, it ain’t for me.

If you know me then you know that I’m a huge nerd. I track the shit out of everything that I do so that I can keep track of what I’m spending my time on. When I was reading a hundred books a year, I tracked what I was reading, what genres I was reading the most and least of, and now that I’m really into watching k-dramas, as you can guess, I tracked my k-drama watching.
I’m on year three of my k-drama adventures and I’m still a nerd so I’m still tracking the shit of my k-drama watching. I’m tracking a lot of things, to be honest. What kind of dramas I’m watching, which tropes, which actors & actresses I’m enjoying, and all sorts of other things as well. I thought that 2022 was a quality year in dramas and there weren’t a whole lot of dramas that I absolutely hated. I’m counting that as a win.
Quick Stats of the Year
Dramas Watched: 64 | Dramas Completed: 47 | Dramas Dropped: 14 | Episodes Watched: 808
Favorite Drama: Alchemy of Souls | Least Favorite Drama: Love is for Suckers
The Breakdown
By Month
January: 6
February: 0
March: 1
April: 4
May: 4
June: 6
July: 9
August: 6
September: 4
October: 4
November: 12
December: 6
This year, I went with the format of drama watching that I used last year. I watched more new shows instead of binge-watching older ones and I really enjoy watching shows that way. I find that I watch more shows with this format so I think that I’m going to stick with it. November was my best month in k-drama watching with February being the worst month in k-drama watching. I should say that those numbers are for dramas that I completed and I was still watching a bunch of dramas in February, I just didn’t complete any so that one is a little tricky.
By Genre
Comedy: 2
Coming of Age: 1
Family: 2
Fantasy: 5
Horror: 1
Legal: 1
Melodrama: 10
Romance: 25
Suspense: 15
2022 was the year that I jumped in and fell down the Suspense k-drama rabbit hole and I’m here for more of these kinds of shows. I’m still pretty solidly stuck in the romance genre and being the kind of person that I am, that is probably never going to change. I’m all about romance!
By Source
Disney Plus: 1
HiTV: 9
Hulu: 3
Netflix: 24
Prime Video: 1
Viki: 25
I didn’t know that Hulu and Prime Video had newly released k-dramas but I know now and I will definitely be watching more of their offerings in the new year. I’m low key excited about that. It’s not surprising to me that I watched most of my dramas on Netflix and Viki. That’s probably not going to change either. They both offer most of everything that I want and need to watch so I will probably continue watching most of my stuff on those platforms. Hopefully this year I’ll give more of the other platforms a shot.

The Monthly Recap posts are a way for me to take a look back and reflect on my previous month in Korean dramas. I always lose track of what I want to watch and I need these posts to keep me honest with my damn self because I be forgetting shit.
You guys, we are 6 days into the last month of 2022. Where has the time gone? Shitballs. 2022 has been a doozy of a year and while there have certainly been a whole lot of ups, the year wasn’t without some pretty big downs as well. November, I didn’t get everything that I wanted to watch, watched but that’s okay…I’m still excited for what December brings.
I spent Thanksgiving with my family in California and while that was great, my sister was sick and missed Thanksgiving with the rest of the family so that was a bummer. She’s better now though so I’m glad. So let’s start this recap, shall we?
Monthly Stats
Dramas Watched: 12 | Dramas Dropped: 3 | Dramas Still Watching: 6

Gaus Electronics | 4.5 out of 5
Love in Contract | 4 out of 5
One Oridinary Day | 4.5 out of 5

Weak Hero, Class 1 | 5 out of 5
Bad Prosecutor | 4.5 out of 5
Fan Letter, Please | 4 out of 5
When the Weather’s Fine | 3.5 out of 5
Dramas I Dropped
Love is for Suckers
Curtain Call
Grid
I quit the first two dramas because I just wasn’t into them. The main leads in Love is for Suckers drove me up the wall and I lost count of how many times I wanted to fight the female lead. She was such a shitty friend to the male lead and no matter how many times the male lead showed up for her, she instead only used him for her damn job.
Grid wasn’t a bad drama, I just wasn’t in the mood for a sci-fi kind of drama so though I dropped it, I’m planning on picking that one up again at a later time.
Dramas I’m Still Watching
May I Help You?
Behind Every Star
Revenge of Others
The First Responders
Reborn Rich
Dramas I Reviewed
Again My Life | 4 out of 5
Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area, Part 1 | 4 out of 5
Shootings Stars | 3.5 out of 5
Why Her? | 3 out of 5

Yumi’s Cells 2 | 3.5 out of 5
Soundtrack #1 | 4.5 out of 5
Love All Play | 4 out of 5
Actors that Stood Out
Choi Hyun Wook: I adored his character in Weak Hero, Class 1 and I need the second season of that show to come out so that we can catch up with his character. I’m pretty anxious about how his character will fit into the next season. Please, please, please be okay!
Do Kyung Soo: Jin Jung was such a great character. I loved how his moral compass was on tighter than a bowstring. He did what he felt was right even when it was hard and he made things fun as well. I adored the heck out of him and miss him now that the drama is over.
Yoon Park: I’m a sucker for a single dad trope and I really adored Bang Jung Seok in Fan Letter, Please. He was one of the last main leads that I loved since I watched his drama at the end of the month but he’s definitely a memorable one. I adored him and am already waiting for his next project.
How was your month, in all the things? Did you read or watch anything good (or bad)? Share in the comments, I’d love to catch up!

K-Drama Characters I Hate
This week’s Wednesday Five will feature the five characters that I hate with the rage of a thousand fires. These are characters that instantly put me in a bad mood if I think of them so I try not to think of them at all. Let’s get on with the list, shall we?

There are a lot of reasons that I get mad while watching Love is for Suckers but this woman is at the very top of that list of reasons. She pisses me off more than the female lead does and that’s saying something because I be wanting to fight the main female lead a lot. I wouldn’t be able to work with this woman because she consistently goes overboard and crosses the line of what’s good and what’s bad. She blows past the line every time and cares not one bit. So yeah, fuck her.

This bitch. Ugh. If you’ve watched Itaewon Class then you know exactly why I hate this bitch. Honestly, fuck this bitch. Fuck him. His Mama. His baby. His life. Just…gah. I’d chop off both of my knees before I ever kneel to him.

Ugh. This guy is definitely his father’s son. Ol’ bitch ass. I hated this guy so much so that I wouldn’t watch Ahn Bo Hyun in another drama because just seeing him pissed me off. I love him now but he played this character so well that I didn’t want to see him anywhere else. I’m glad that I wised up on that end because I really, truly adore Ahn Bo Hyun now. But this character? Yeah, fuck that guy.

4. Lee Na Yeon (Pink Sweater Girl) from All of Us Are Dead
I lost count of how many times I wanted to strangle this bitch. She was absolutely the worse person in this show. I even hated her more than the guy that refused to stay dead. Every episode that she stayed alive, I wanted to punch her in the throat and feed her to the zombies. Ugh, she was such a terrible character.

This evil piece of shit is another character that I absolutely hate. He was more than just disgusting though. He was mean and he was abusive and tried to act like he was this upstanding citizen and every episode I wanted to kick in the dick over and over and over again. I was sad when Little Women ended but I was more than happy to leave this punk ass character in the dust.
Who are some characters that you have hated in K-Dramas?
