Man, I’m still reeling from the fact that we’re already in November. I’m almost to my one year mark on this blog and boy have I come a long way since the beginning of Weendizzle. There have been some features that came and some that have gone but one of the staples of my personal blogs has always been Eye Candy Friday. The feature looks a lot different these days but I love it just as much.
This week’s eye candy is from my book club book of the month, Ruthless by Lexi Blake. His name is Riley Lawless but in the book, he goes by Riley Lang because he’s going undercover to bring down the families responsible for murdering his parents.
Here is his book information:

The first in a sexy contemporary romance series featuring the Lawless siblings—from New York Times bestselling author Lexi Blake.
The Lawless siblings are bound by vengeance. Riley, Drew, Brandon, and Mia believe the CEO of StratCast orchestrated their parents’ murder twenty years ago to steal their father’s software program. And there’s only one way Riley can find some solid evidence…
Heir to the StratCast legacy, Ellie Stratton hires a new attorney to handle a delicate business matter—and she’s shocked by her attraction to him. Over the course of a few weeks, Riley becomes her lover, her friend, her everything. But when her life is threatened, Ellie discovers that Riley is more obsessed with settling an old score than in the love she thought they were building. And Riley must choose between a revenge he’s prepared for all his life and the woman he’s sure he can’t live without…
Riley was a very smart and charming hero but because of his role in his family revenge plot, I thought it was going to be a lot harder to like him. He was put into an impossible situation because he’s falling for his mark and the people that he’s letting down by dragging his feet on everything are not his co workers or his team mates but his actual family.
I can’t imagine growing up the way that Riley and his siblings did. They were all home when their parents were killed and then they were split up but they’re back together again and they’re out for vengeance. So seeing Riley struggle with what to do over the course of the book made me like him more and more. I felt his struggles and I felt his emotional ties tearing him up and I just really liked the way that he came through with what he thought was right.
There wasn’t a quick fix it for Riley when the crap hit the fan. He struggled with trying to make things right, trying to make things up to everyone and really fighting for his right to feel the way that he feels for both Ellie but also his siblings. There were consequences and Riley came out on top of all of it with my love for him strong and true. 🙂
This talk with his brother really cemented my love for Riley Lawless.
“Some things are worth getting hurt over. And she does love me. I know she does. She’s a little like that story Mom used to read us. You remember? The one with the dragon.”
“Sleeping Beauty. I always wanted the dragon to win.”
Because the dragon was the coolest part for a bunch of boys. Mia had loved the princess.
“Ellie’s asleep right now. She’s buried this integral part of herself because I hurt her. I hurt her badly.
She’s got her defenses up, but eventually she’ll let them go because that’s who she is. Some prince will come and kiss her and wake her up again. I’m the fucking dragon who will scare all of them off and kiss her myself. Prince Charming was a wimp. She needs a dragon to protect her.”
He worked really hard for everyone around him and even when it was hard, he didn’t give up on love. You gotta love and respect that.
Here’s my Riley Lawless.
If you haven’t read this book, I suggest you change that. This was a damn good romance.
