The Wednesday Five: Favorite Dramas on Netflix

Posted July 13, 2022 by Rowena in Features | 0 Comments

I’m a list person. I have a list for every single thing in my life from a to-do list, a list of books that I want to read, a running shopping list, and in the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing different k-entertainment lists that I’ve been keeping track of. You’ll be seeing my top 5 lists of stuff like my current celebrity crushes, my favorite k-drama female protagonists, my favorite k-drama male protagonists, my to-be-watched k-dramas, and you know, stuff like that.

This week’s Wednesday Five will feature My Favorite K-Dramas on Netflix. These are the k-dramas that I watched on Netflix and enjoyed so much that I kept right on watching k-dramas, leaving most everything else behind.

1. Itaewon Class

My Drama List | Netflix
Starring: Park Seo Joon, Kim Da Mi, Kwon Na Ra

This is the drama that started it all. I didn’t used to be a person that went outside of my comfort zone and try new things. I liked what I liked and never really cared about anything else. I also wasn’t someone that cared for subtitles. Why watch something with subtitles when there were plenty of content that I could consume in my own language? But when my nephew coaxed me into trying this one since I watched and loved Train to Busan, I did so very hesitantly. That first episode turned into the second episode, turned into the third episode and the very next day, I was done and wanted another. There wasn’t anything that I didn’t love about this show, with the exception of the Jang family. I hated them and come to think of it, I still hate them. Damn assholes. But yay for Team Sae Royi.

2. Our Beloved Summer

My Drama List | Netflix
Starring: Choi Woo Shik, Kim Da Mi, Kim Sung Cheol

I adored this show from beginning to end. I love me some Choi Woo Shik and thought he did Choi Woong’s character justice. I loved the pacing of this drama, from the romance to everything else going on, it was just all well done and exactly my vibe. I waited anxiously each week for the new episodes and in the end, I was completely satisfied with everything. I was sad that it was ending but I was more happy that I was part of the journey. I especially loved V’s song for this show. So, so good.

3. A Business Proposal

My Drama List | Netflix
Starring: Ahn Hyo Seop, Kim Seo Jeong, Kim Min Gue

As a huge fan of romance and the two main leads, I went into this one happily. There wasn’t much that I didn’t enjoy about this one but for me, it was the secondary romance that lit me up like the fourth of July. The humor, the characters, and both of the romances made this such a fun ride. Everything about this drama is everything that I love in a drama so of course this is on my top k-dramas.

4. It’s Okay to Not be Okay

My Drama List | Netflix
Starring: Kim Soo Hyun, Seo Ye Ji, Oh Jung Se

This drama is a lot different from what I normally like. I prefer light and fluffy over dark and heavy but this one??? Yeah, this one just hit different. Every single episode felt like a season finale and every episode had me ugly crying when that song played. You know which song I’m talking about. Breath by Sam Kim came on and I was already sitting up, getting ready to bawl my eyes out. This drama pulled at my heart strings, broke my entire heart, but the ending put me all back together again, nice and right. This is one of my all time favorite k-dramas. Just so damn good.

5. Racket Boys

My Drama List | Netflix
Starring: Tang Jun Sang, Son Sang Yeon, Choi Hyun Wook

This is one of the most wholesome ass shows that I’ve ever watched in my life. I loved everything about this show and when they took a break in releasing new episodes, I didn’t know what to do with myself. This was one of the highlights of my week when it was airing new episodes. I’m so glad that I watched this show. It introduced me to new actors that I have come to love and it entertained the socks right off me every week. I love this one to pieces and I probably always will.
