After the death of one of the rich and popular Blossom twins on 4th July, the small town of Riverdale investigates the murder. The series starts in September, the beginning of a new school year that brings new students, relationships and reveals the mysteries of the past 4th July.

Riverdale is the show that took the slot that Vampire Diaries had for the longest time. For the last eight years I was all about the Salvatore brothers, Stefan mostly, but there were times when I had mad Damon love so when that show ended, I had to find another show to fill that spot. Riverdale started making the promo rounds and I started looking up the characters, and after watching the trailer, I was sold. Riverdale is a darker version of the Archie comics. It’s the Archie comics come to life, in a darker town with loads and loads of secrets.

I’m so glad that I started this show because it’s the perfect replacement for Vampire Diaries. The whole show is ripe with teen angst, sexy characters and mysteries to solve.

This season’s mystery is trying to find out who killed Jason Blossom. Every week, there was a new suspect and every week, I thought the killer was someone new. The only person that I never thought was guilty of killing Jason was the stupid pedophile teacher, Miss Grundy. I’m glad her relationship with Archie didn’t last long because I hate the teacher and student love match storyline. Hate it, hate it, hate it. But I liked the way that this story played out over the course of the season. Everyone was a suspect and my jaw literallly dropped when we found out who it really was.

There was a lot of bombs that are dropped each week and I really liked how the writers did that. There was plenty to keep us guessing, keep us invested and I’m so glad that I watched it. I have loads of questions that need answering and I’m hoping Season 2 will supply the answers.

I want to know why the killer killed Jason. I want to know how the gun got into FP’s trailer. I want to know if Kevin’s Dad is a bad cop. I want to where Jughead will go and what happens to him now after his world imploded. What happens now for Cheryl? How are things going to change with Veronica’s father coming back? So many different questions for next season.

Favorite Episode: The pilot. The whole freaking episode was just one shocking revelation after one shocking revelation and in the end, you were still left with so many questions.

Favorite Character: Jughead. I love his ornery, hates to be around other people but so stinkin’ smart ass. Jughead is loyal and he’s conflicted but at his core, there’s a goodness in him that nobody else on the show has. My heart hurt for him at every turn. He had every opportunity and reason to be that bad kid but not Jughead. He’s grumpy and a smart mouth but he’s so much more than that too. Honorable Mention: Cheryl Blossom. Nobody serves bitchy clap backs the way that Cheryl does. She’s a classy bitch and I’m so here for everything that comes out of her mouth.

Favorite Ship: Archie and Betty = Barchie. I’m probably the only person that ships these two together but as great as the couples going on right now are, none of them hit me right in my feels the way that Archie and Betty did in this scene:

I’m a sucker for that unrequited love storyline and I can’t wait to see how this ship sails…

Overall, season 1 of Riverdale was compelling and it was shocking and just everything that I love in a teeny bopper drama. I loved all of the relationship drama between everyone and I loved Dark Betty and every day Cheryl and I really loved that in this version of the comics, Betty and Veronica are great friends. I’m super thrilled that there will be a Season 2 and I’ve got high hopes for it.

If you’re looking for a new ansty teen drama, you should give this one a go. It’s good, I promise.

T5W

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey at Ginger Reads Lainey but is hosted by Sam at Thoughts on Tomes. You can read more about this meme on the Goodreads Group here.

This weeks topic is: Current Favorites that Aren’t Books

Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from books and talk about some other things you’ve been obsessed with. These all don’t have to be in the same category. Mix it up! What TV shows have you been enjoying, makeup you’ve been wearing, food you’ve been eating, etc.??

I’m going out of order this month since I skipped last week’s and am going to skip next week’s prompt and instead do this week’s prompt, next week that way I can come back the following week and be all caught up. If that makes any sense.

I took a break from this feature for the last part of last year and then last month as well but I’m hoping to get back on the Top 5 Wednesday train this month. Wish me luck on that.

1. Shooter on USA Network.

SHOOTER is USA Network’s new conspiracy thriller based on the best-selling novel “Point of Impact” by Stephen Hunter, and the 2007 Paramount film starring Mark Wahlberg. Starring Ryan Phillippe, the series follows the journey of Bob Lee Swagger, a highly-decorated veteran who is coaxed back into action to prevent a plot to kill the President. When Swagger’s former commanding officer Isaac Johnson solicits his expertise in a clandestine operation, Swagger discovers that he has been framed and must do everything in his power to protect his family and clear his name.

I have binge watched the shit out of Season 1 of this show. I think I watched the entire season in 2, maybe 3 days but you guys, it’s so good. Ryan Phillippe plays Bobby Lee Swagger and the TV Show is a bit different from the movie. While I liked the movie, I’m enjoying the show more.

2. Happy Planners from Me and My Big Ideas.

I’ve become a happy planner addict. I have lost count of how much time I’ve spent watching Plan with Me, Weekly and Monthly Fip Throughs videos on YouTube and all in an effort to find inspiration for my own happy planner. I also spend quite a bit of time on IG, looking at everyone’s planner spreads. I have been become quite the sticker and washi tape hoarder and every week, I look forward to digging right back into my craft baskets to decorate the heck out of my planners.

I blame Ames for enabling my planner addiction but I also blame Nick and Nereyda for always posting pictures of their bullet journals because they all make me want to play around with my planner.

Brenna likes to roll her eyes when I tell her that we need to stop by Michaels or when she sees me going through my washi tape stash, preparing to decorate my planner pages and I don’t even care, I love this shit and I’m so here for it.

3. Hydro Flask.

I love my hydro flask. In an effort to drink more water this year, I got a hydro flask because I liked the look of them and I also liked that they kept my water cold all day. I don’t like room temperature water and I hate warm water so if I want to get anywhere with my drink more water goal, it’s gotta be cold water out of this hydro flask.

I have this exact one with the straw and I have small purple one that I use for hot beverages and I love that my hot chocolate, tea or whatever hot beverage I’m drinking stays hot for hours and hours.

This is the best.

4. Riverdale on The CW.

A subversive take on Archie and his friends, exploring small town life, the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade.

I’ve been watching this show since the first episode aired and I’m digging it. This is the show that will fill the slot that Vampire Diaries leaves and I’m pretty stoked to keep going. I like that this is a darker take on the Archie comics and Luke Perry is on it. That gets all of the yesses from my past tween Dylan McKay loving heart.

I like that in this darker version of the Archie comics, Betty and Veronica are going to be best friends instead of enemies. I like that the love triangle will be a lot more dramatic because of that. I’m not going to lie, I’m shipping Archie and Betty. That scene with them in front of Betty’s house in the pilot? Hit me right in the feels. I can’t wait to see their slow burn.

I’m also looking forward to all of the sleuthing that will be going on and getting to know Jughead more. I’m also looking forward to the demise of Archie’s super creepy affair with Ms. Grundy.

5. MAMBI Value Pack Stickers from Me and My Big Ideas.

I cannot get enough of these things. There are quite a few sticker books to collect and I’m working on getting them all. I can’t help myself. I love adding stickers to my weekly and monthly planning spreads and goodness, they’re just so super cute.

There are plenty to choose from too. They have a color-coordinated sticker books, a Mom sticker book, a teacher sticker book. You name it, they have a sticker book for it and I’m pretty sure there will be more to release as well. They have awesome quote stickers and just all around pretty stickers. I can’t get enough of these things.

What are some of your favorite things that aren’t books?
