You'd think a billion dollars, a professional hockey team and a six-bedroom mansion on the Promenade would satisfy a guy. You'd be wrong.

For seven years Rebecca has brightened my office with her wit and her smile. She manages both my hockey team and my sanity. I don't know when I started waking in the night, craving her. All I know is that one whiff of her perfume ruins my concentration. And her laugh makes me hard.

When Rebecca gets hurt, I step in to help. It's what friends do. But what friends don't do is rip off each others' clothes for a single, wild night together.

Now she's avoiding me. She says we're too different, and it can never happen again. So why can't we keep our hands off each other?

Nate and Becca have been working together almost from the very beginning. Nate was off-limits when Becca first came to work for him and they have become really close friends. Becca was there for Nate when he needed a friend (not an assistant) and she’s become one of the most important people in his life. I really enjoyed seeing him trying to hide his feelings from her and everyone else that they work with.

Everything worthwhile is complicated.

He wasn’t fooling anyone though. Nate and Becca coming together was complicated because of the fact that they work together. They both had reservations about coming out about how they feel about each other but it was so much fun seeing Nate let himself be in love with his assistant.

“My life is constant noise. Meetings and obligations and two thousand employees. It’s great, but it’s loud. When you kiss me, everything goes quiet. That’s the only time I can forget everyone else.” I roll to the side and put my lips right beside her ear. “And when I’m inside you, we’re all that matters. I crave it so much.”

*swoon*

Nate was the bomb. If you haven’t read his book, fix that because a rich nerd is what you’ve been missing in your life.

Here’s what Nate looks like in my head.

Eye Candy Friday: Patrick O’Doul from Hard Hitter by Sarina Bowen

Posted October 13, 2017 by Rowena in Features | 13 Comments

I’m a huge fan of Sarina Bowen books. She writes my kind of romances and she’s one of my top authors across the board. I have loved everything that I’ve read by her in some way and this book was no different. Patrick O’Doul snuck up on me and that’s why he’s this week’s Eye Candy Friday.

Hard Hitter (Brooklyn Bruisers #2) by Sarina Bowen

He’s a fighter in the rink, but he’s about to learn that playing nice can help you score…

As team captain and enforcer, Patrick O’Doul puts the bruise in the Brooklyn Bruisers. But after years of hard hits, O’Doul is feeling the burn, both physically and mentally. He conceals his pain from his coach and trainers, but when his chronic hip injury becomes too obvious to ignore, they send him for sessions with the team’s massage therapist.

After breaking up with her long-term boyfriend, Ari Bettini is in need of peace of mind. For now, she’s decided to focus on her work: rehabilitating the Bruisers’ MVP. O’Doul is easy on the eyes, but his reaction to her touch is ice cold. Ari is determined to help O’Doul heal, but as the tension between them turns red hot, they both learn that a little TLC does the body good…

To quote my review of this book…

“I’ll admit that when I first heard that Patrick was getting his story told next, I wasn’t all that excited. I’m not sure why that was since I didn’t hate Patrick, I just didn’t really think much about him.

Well…I love him now. Ha!”

Like, I said. Patrick snuck up on me. He was the enforcer for his team and he took care of them any way that he could on the ice. The amount of work that went into those short 60-90 second fights was starting to take its toll on his body and I loved seeing Patrick to find a way to stay relevant and protect his teammates. I also loved seeing him fall in love with the team massage therapist, Ari.

“You’re everything that I want, and everything I need. You already have my heart, and I don’t want it back. Understand?”

He was the bomb hero and if you haven’t met him yet…I strongly urge you to fix that. He’s great.

Here’s who I pictured when reading about Patrick O’Doul.

Hot, huh? That’s Patrick for you.

Eye Candy Friday: Matt Erikkson from Stay

Posted July 14, 2017 by Rowena in Features | 3 Comments

This week’s eye candy goes to Matt Erikkson from Stay by Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy. This book was such a great book and for me, my enjoyment was in large part because of the hero, Matt. He’s a single father trying to do well in his career as a hockey goalie but still be a relevant part of his kids life. His ex-wife has the girls for most of the time but he makes the most of the time that he does have the girls and he gets it all done with the help of his virtual assistant, Hailey.

I think what I liked most about Matt was that he was so…normal. I mean, sure he’s a famous hockey player but he’s also just a man. A father. An ex-husband. He wasn’t this overwhelmingly alpha male that has to dominate everyone in his life. He was manly but he was also a simple man’s man who tried to keep his promises to his kids and flirt with his assistant as well.

He was also sweet and charming and I absolutely adored him. I’m really digging his Single Dad vibes and ugh, I just loved him to pieces.

This is my Mark Erikkson:

Memorable Quotes

“He’s already one up on me. He’s been on the receiving end of a couple of Hottie’s kisses.

I’ve got nothing. It’s the first time I’ve ever been jealous of my dog.”

Matty Cakes had a crush on his assistant long before he met her and I thought that was too cute.

“Maybe I can convince you to kiss me again. I’m right here, honey. Come get me.”

*happy sigh* Can I have my own Matty?

“She has no idea how much this means to me. I’ve spent the last year believing myself unfit to be anyone’s partner. And maybe it’s true. But by spending her day with me – and her night – Hailey lets me believe I’m not a lost cause, that my messy life is worth sharing.”

Yessss!!! He was so worthy of love!
