Lee Heon is the king of Joseon. 7 years ago, when he was a crown prince, his beloved wife died. To this day, he has not been able to get over her death. For the past 7 years, the royal family and government members have tried to get King Lee Heon remarried without success. The nation has also implemented a geumhonryung edict, which is a ban on all single women marrying during this time when the king has not married. People are furious over the marriage ban. One day, King Lee Heon hears of a woman named Ye So Rang, who claims the spirit of the king’s late wife exists within the royal palace.
Meanwhile, Ye So Rang is a swindler and claims to interpret marital harmony signs. She is arrested and jailed where Officer Lee Shin Won works. To get out of her predicament, she pretends to be possessed by a spirit in front of Lee Shin Won. During her ruse, she mentions that the spirit of King Lee Heon’s late wife exists within the royal palace. She is then brought in front of the king and he asks her if she can really see his late wife’s spirit. To survive, Ye So Rang acts like her body is possessed by the king’s late wife. Ye So Rang’s lies get bigger and more audacious.
I love me some Kim Young Dae so after watching Shooting Star, I patiently waited for him to come out with something else and this was it. I’m finding that I’m watching more and more shows for the actors that star in them and not the plot or anything like that. I promise I’m not shallow, haha. I do love me some Park Ju Hyun as well so this was a pairing that I didn’t know that I needed. And in a rom-com? Yes, please!
The Story

Kim Young Dae plays a King who has not gotten over his dead wife. He’s still grieving her death and put a law into effect that bans marriage so for the last seven years, everyone has not been able to get married. What everyone doesn’t know is that the King is being haunted by his dead wife. He never gets any peace because his dead wife is always around. So when he meets Ye So Rang and she claims that his late wife is in the palace, he keeps her around so that he can talk to his wife through her and their whirlwind romance takes off. Ye So Rang is battling her own things and is in hiding because she’s never been safe. She’s become a con artist in order to survive and seeing her battle day in and day out made me love her more and more with each episode.
As much as I enjoyed the main romance, the story itself moved slow at times and there were a few episodes where it was so slow that it was very easy for me to be distracted with everything and anything under the sun while the episodes played. That was a bit of a bummer but overall, I did like it.
The Cast

There weren’t too many faces that I didn’t recognize from this drama so it felt like catching up with friends and I enjoyed everyone’s addition to the cast. My favorites of the bunch outside of the two main leads were the second lead, Lee Shin Won, (though I never rooted for him to get the girl, sorry!), and the two palace workers, Se Jang and Won Nyeo, who were trying to steer the King into falling in love so that the marriage ban can be lifted. They were a lot of fun and entertained me with their charm.
Final Thoughts

Overall, this drama was an enjoyable one that made me laugh, made me get teary-eyed, and entertained me. Though there were slow parts of the show, I still enjoyed it. I liked the romance between the King and and So Rang, I liked the second lead, I loved all of the people we meet from So Rang’s life but from the King’s life as well (except for all of those fuckers that were trying to do him dirty) and a giant fuck you to the woman and her daughter that was trying to do So Rang dirty too. I’m glad that when all was said and done, my girl got her happy ending and was able to return to the person she’s always been and was able to step into the light without hiding anymore. I was glad that the King was able to finally move on from his first love and find love again with my girl. There’s enough here for viewers to enjoy and I thought the visuals (not just the actors but the setting as well) were beautiful and I am glad that I watched it.
Final Rating
3.5 out of 5

The Monthly Recap posts are a way for me to take a look back and reflect on my previous month in Korean dramas. I always lose track of what I want to watch and I need these posts to keep me honest with my damn self because I be forgetting shit. So let’s start this recap, shall we?
I wasn’t expecting to be as busy as I was in the month of January. I was in Utah and then flew into L.A. for some family stuff and by the time that I got home, I was too exhausted mentally to focus on any drama watching so February started off really slow…but even with how busy I was in January, I watched hella dramas.
Here’s a rundown of what my month looked like. Check it out…

Actors that Stood Out
Jung Sung Il from The Glory: This guy was a pretty big highlight for me while watching The Glory. I watched the show for Lee Do Hyun and was pleasantly surprised at the introduction of Ha Do Young. He was fine as hell and I’m going to need him to not be a bad guy. Please, please, please don’t be a bad guy.
Cha Eun Woo from Island: Cha Eun Woo as Priest Yohan was such a vibe. He was such a delightful part of the first season. The show, for the most part was on the dark side and Yohan provided a little sunlight that went a long way and I just really liked his character.
Park Jin Young from He is Psychometric: I watched this show randomly with Therese and we were both so smitten with Park Jin Young in it. He was so handsome and just kept getting more handsome and more handsome with each passing episode. Even after the show ended we were still smitten with him. He fine as hell.

In an effort to organize my k-drama watching and keep track of what I’m watching, what I’m loving, and what I’m hating, I’m bringing it to the blog. Each month, I’ll put a list together of the shows that I plan on watching and then track my progress through these monthly posts. Let’s see what this month’s plan looks like, shall we?
Here’s a breakdown of how I did on last month’s TBW Pile.
Previous Month Stats
Drama’s to Watch: 14 | Drama’s Watched: 12 | Drama’s Unwatched: 2
Drama’s Started: 6 | Dramas Completed: 5 | Drama’s Dropped: 1
Favorite Watch: May I Help You | Least Favorite Watch: Behind Every Star
I didn’t get around to starting Money Heist Korea 2 and The Fabulous. I’m sure I’ll be adding those shows to this month’s line up. Fingers crossed, anyway. I did a decent job of keeping up with all of my dramas considering how busy I was in December. I did a lot of traveling and forced family fun so that cramped my drama watching quite a bit but when there’s a will, there’s a way.
January’s TBW PILE
Buddy Watch
Would You Like a Cup of Coffee?
Therese and I already finished our January buddy watch but this is what we watched. 🙂
January Releases
Payback: Money and Power
Agency
Crash Course in Romance
Can We Be Strangers?
Since this is a plan of action for my k-drama watching for the upcoming month, instead of sharing all of the January new releases in this portion of the post, I’m just going to be sharing the new releases that I plan on watching. I’ve been including all of the new releases in the past like two or three posts and it’s confusing me, number wise so yeah, I’m doing away with that. So these are the new releases that I’m looking forward to watching this month.
Shows That Are Finishing in January
Alchemy of Souls 2: Light and Shadow
The Forbidden Marriage
Unlock My Boss
Island, Season 1
What dramas are on your TBW pile for January? Anything good that I should keep my eye out for? Please share the dramas you have on deck to read next month.

The Monthly Recap posts are a way for me to take a look back and reflect on my previous month in Korean dramas. I always lose track of what I want to watch and I need these posts to keep me honest with my damn self because I be forgetting shit.
December was a busy month for me personally but I was able to get some quality k-drama watching in and that always makes me happy. So let’s start this recap, shall we?
Monthly Stats
Dramas Watched: 12 | Dramas Completed: 4 | Dramas Dropped: 4 | Dramas Still Watching: 4
Dramas Reviewed: 9 | Boyfriend of the Month: Kim Tae Hee
Favorite Drama: May I Help You? | Least Favorite Drama: Behind Every Star
Dramas I Completed
Behind Every Star | 3 out of 5
Revenge of Others | 3.5 out of 5
May I Help You | 4 out of 5
Reborn Rich | 3.5 out of 5
These were all solid dramas but Behind Every Star was probably my least favorite of the bunch. I did enjoy the others and while I LOVE May I Help You, I don’t think any of the remaining dramas listed will make my favorite shows of the year list.
Dramas I Dropped
Extraordinary You
The First Responders
Like I said above, December was a busy month for me personally so I had to drop a couple of shows that I do hope to get back to soon(ish). It’s not that I wasn’t enjoying these, I just had a lot of stuff going on and haven’t gotten back to them. I’m hoping to finish them out this month. Wish me luck on that.
Dramas I’m Still Watching
Alchemy of Souls 2: Light and Shadow
The Forbidden Marriage
The Interest of Love
Unlock My Boss
Island, Season 1
I’m going to be so sad this coming weekend because the final season of Alchemy of Souls comes to an end. It’s my favorite show of the year so far and I’m not ready to say goodbye to Jang Uk and Naksu and the rest of the gang. The other shows are great too…I hope that they stay that way.
Dramas I Reviewed
Blind | 4.5 out of 5
Love in Contract | 4 out of 5
Extraordinary Attorney Woo | 4.5 out of 5
Alchemy of Souls | 5 out of 5
Hotel Del Luna | 4 out of 5

Gaus Electronics | 4.5 out of 5
Bad Prosecutor | 4 out of 5
Little Women | 4 out of 5
Weak Hero, Class 1 | 4.5 out of 5
Actors that Stood Out
Lee Jun Young: Lee Jun Young as Kim Tae Hee was the bomb. I’ve seen him in a few other things but this role is my favorite of his. I watched a lot of episodes of May I Help You multiple times because he’s so easy on the eyes. Gotta love the eye candy but I also really enjoyed the way that he made Kim Tae Hee shine.
Seo Ji Hoon: I don’t remember ever seeing Seo Ji Hoon in any other drama before but I really liked what he brought to Seok Jae Beom character. He was so great that I looked him up and made note of everything else he’s been in and has coming up, I’m a supporter of his now.
Steven Noh: Jane was my favorite part of the show, Behind Every Star but Lee Sang Wook was a very close second. He was so fine that I had an attitude whenever he didn’t pop on the show enough to suit me. I didn’t know who he was before but I know him now…:)

Happy Holidays, Everyone!
I hope that everyone had a good holiday season and I hope that 2023 is good to all of us. 2022 proved to be for humbling my ass and teaching me some lessons that I didn’t know I needed to learn. I’m taking those lessons into the new year with me because being unemployed has really impacted me and the confidence I thought I had. It’s been a rough couple of months mentally and going back home was the reset that I needed.
I’ve been in my head too much and there is nobody in this world that could get me out of my head and laughing like there is no tomorrow than my family. I went to Disneyland for the first time in years, I got my first pair of Minnie Mouse ears and I spent time with my Dad. I had an Aunties date with Caiden, Rocky, and Lasi and it was such a good time that I’m still smiling over our conversations from that day. My holidays were good but I’m glad to be home.
Now, let’s get into all of the things that I did last week…
What I Watched
The Glory | 4 out of 5
Harry and Meghan | 5 out of 5
I watched both of these shows with my family, and we binge-watched the hell out of them both. The first one had me shook and at the edge of my seat with each passing episode and the second made me cry. I’m glad that I watched both shows and I can’t wait for the second season of The Glory. March needs to get here…now!
May I Help You?: The last few episodes of this drama weren’t my favorite and I spent a lot of the time distracted while watching them but that doesn’t take to much away from how much I enjoyed this drama as a whole. This was my kind of drama and I am going to miss these characters, especially Kim Tae Hee and Baek Dong Joo but also Uncle Vincent and Uncle Michael. There was lots to love about this one and I am really glad that I watched it.
Reborn Rich: This show wasn’t the perfect show that I was expecting but it was compelling as hell and the characters were interesting, even if I didn’t like more than half of them. I’m glad that I let my favorite IG influencers influence me to give this one a go. It was a good, solid drama.
Summer Strike: This show started slow and I thought for sure I was going to drop it but I’m glad that I didn’t. It progressed nicely each week and ended on such a sweet note that it made me happy and I will definitely miss my friends.
Alchemy of Souls 2: Shit is poppin’ off in the Alchemy of Souls universe and I.AM.HERE.FOR.IT. Jang Uk! I need you to get it together and recognize what is right in front of your face!! AHHHH!!
The Forbidden Marriage: I really like this drama. It’s got the right mix of lightness fun and depth that I’m enjoying heaps. I am loving all of the main leads and am rooting for them all…how I can root for them, I have no idea..but I am. lol.
Unlock my Boss: I’m still enjoying this one as well. Not as much as some of the other shows that I watched last year and this isn’t my favorite show with Chae Jong Hyeop but I’m sure things will keep picking up.
The Interest of Love: I started this show in L.A. with my sister and niece last week but we only got around to watching the first episode…and that was an interesting one. I watched the second episode on my own and am definitely interested in seeing where this one goes. I can’t say that I’m completely hooked yet but there’s promise here.
