One of my favorite things to do when I was back home in L.A. was to take drives with my friend B Nice so that we can listen to our newly discovered favorite songs by BTS. We both discovered BTS over the pandemic and have been crazy for all things BTS. When I moved to Vegas, those drives stopped but I decided that I’m going to use my blog to share what songs I’m listening to each week with both B Nice and everyone else who reads this blog.

This week’s bunch of songs got a bunch of different songs that will make you sit up and take notice, haha. But seriously, these are some of my favorite songs so I know that you guys will enjoy them as well.

Spring Day is one of my all-time favorite BTS songs. It’s right up there with Magic Shop. It’s a fantastic song on its own but when you look up the theories and understand the inspirations behind the making of this song, it’ll make you cry. It’s a really popular song and if you know anything about the Sewol Ferry incident in South Korea from a few years ago then you’ll understand for yourself why this song is so special for Army. The music video is amazing as well, check out this video out because it’s an excellent theory video. Prepare yourselves though, it’ll make you cry for sure.

Dimple is a catchy song that made me laugh because they legit sing, “So I’ll call you illegirl…” because her dimples should be illegal. Hahaha. This is a vocal line song so there’s no J-Hope, RM, or Suga but if you want to watch their performance of this (and you do want to watch it), check it out here. I’m telling you, it’s catchy as hell and fun to sing along to.

If you want to watch my bias slay a song, listen to Singularity. V continues to impress the hell out of me with his vocal range. He can do it all and this song is so freaking good.

This song is such a fun song to listen to when you’re cleaning the house because it’s an upbeat song that makes you want to get up and get your boogie on. The choreo on this song is amazing as well. If you’re interested in the meaning about this song, you can check out this post here.

I can’t believe that I haven’t added this song to a playlist post yet. This song slaps so hard and the music video is pretty dope too. The choreo, Suga’s part, J Hope’s opening and just everything about this song rocks my socks. So good. I’m not even mad that every time I hear RM’s part, I hear JK singing it in his cutesy voice that annoyed RM, haha. This song is an anthem to haters and it makes me so happy when I listen to it because talk your shit boys!

So a few weeks ago, my niece Chach got married and it’s become a thing in my family for the kids to perform a Wilson’s Grandkids dance and I’m always in charge of teaching it with Chloe’s help. In the past, we’ve danced to Glee’s cover of Marry You by Bruno Mars, to Love Never Felt So Good by Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson, and this time around, I wanted to dance to a BTS song but I was shot down at every turn (freaking haters) so…since I couldn’t do a BTS song, I put BTS choreography in our dance and the choreography that I used was from this very song, Idol. Idol is a great freaking song and seeing the kids figure out that the dance for Idol looks crazy familiar makes me laugh so much. This song is great and should be a part of your playlists and remember, don’t let anyone dictate how you feel about the things you like. As Jimin sings in this song, they can’t stop you loving yourself. 🙂

This week, I’m featuring the rap line from BTS. I feel like I don’t give them as much love as I do the vocal line though I do love them hella. I promise. These three are the songs that I’ve been listening to a lot lately and after they are all fantastic songs.

DKDKTV does a really great job of explaining the meaning and themes behind a lot of BTS songs for international fans. In this video, they explain the lyrics of Ddaeng and though I loved the song before watching that video, I love it even more now. Such a great song. Unfortunately, this song isn’t part of any of their albums. I do believe that they released this song for a fan event and you can listen to it on the BTS Soundcloud, for free.

This song is another gem of a song with a message that I can totally get behind. You can watch the song explained video from DKDKTV here. Shout out to the hard work that these guys do for us international fans. This song is basically about people being jerks and getting mad over every little thing. Wasting energy being pissed off and trolling others on the internet. Especially the trolls that troll celebrities and make their already stressful jobs, even more stressful..for no damn reason. Use that anger for more useful things, like making the world a better place. Be mad that there is still oppression going on in the world. Be mad about those kinds of things. Do better.

This song is a Suga solo and it’s one that showcases just how fast this man can rap. His style of rapping reminds me of Eminem and Twista, that super-fast flow and I’m here for it. Suga is pissed at all of those haters in this song and he goes off. I’m really loving how different Agust D is from Suga. Agust D is rawer than Suga is. This is the kind of artist that I think Suga would have been without BTS. I’m glad that he’s with BTS and he’s a huge part of the reason that I love BTS so much but I love that we can get so many different sides to each member through their solo work. This is a great song and is definitely worthy of being part of your playlists. Again, this is another song that you won’t find on any album but on the BTS SoundCloud. There are a lot of good stuff over there so head on over and check them out.

This was my top song of 2020 and two months into 2021 and I’m STILL loving this song. I think I’m close to declaring this song my top favorite BTS song. My first favorite song by BTS was Just One Day and though that’s still in my top 3, my favorite song right now remains Magic Shop. The message this song brings for Army all over the world, the way that the boys sing it with so much emotion, I absolutely love all of it.

My absolute favorite line from the song is when V sings this at the end…

“Would you believe if I told you that I, too, was afraid of everything – all the true hearts and all the remaining time.”
And then when Jimin finishes it off?

“All your answers are in this place where you found, in your galaxy, in your mind”
This song is a message to Army that we’re not alone. Every time we want to disappear, every time we feel low, BTS invites us to create a space in our hearts for them to help us through all of our sad times. We just need to open our own little magic shops in our hearts and BTS will be there with their music, with their RUN episodes to make us smile, make us laugh, to give us a little hope that we’ll make it through. We’re never alone because they got us, just like we got them.

This is another song that I absolutely love. It’s a really sad song though and I know that a lot of fans were scared that when they released it, the song felt like a farewell from the boys. They’ve come a long way in their career and they’ve had to fight obstacle after obstacle in their quest to the top so I would have been scared about the message this song brings too. No matter how sad, it’s still a really beautiful song and their performance of it is just as spectacular.

Oh man, the first time that I read the lyrics to this song, I cried. BTS really finds you when you need them most and I was going through a really hard time with personal stuff when I first heard this song. It was the exact thing that I needed to hear to pick myself up. No matter how bad our days get, midnight will always come and the whole world will hold their breath for a brief moment, and then a new day will begin. A new beginning. Yesterday’s worries are gone and today is a new chance to have a better day. To be happy. To turn this all around. You always have another shot to turn your bad days around. Zero o’clock.

Hey guys!

Here’s what I’m listening to this week:

This song is my favorite Jimin song. The song, his performance of this song at the concerts, and just everything about this song hits all my favorite buttons. I love listening to him sing this song too. He’s so stinkin’ talented and one of my favorite dancers in the group. Man but this is a great song.

I can almost sing this song without looking at the easy lyrics. I’m so proud, haha. This song is a bop. I freaking love every note, every lyric, and the minute the first chords start playing, I’m already in a better mood. This song is freaking good and when Jungkook sings it in concert, I be like….okayyyy JKKKKKKK!!! When I first read the lyrics for this song, I was cracking up because these guys are not lying…they sure are pied pipers!

I’m not going to lie, when I watched the concert where Jin performed this song, I teared up. He sang this song so well and with so much emotion that it was hard not to feel what he was singing. It was because of that performance that I became a huge fan of the song. I listen to this song all the time and I’ve listened to it a lot this week. So stinkin’ good.
