The Weekly Recap (185)

Posted December 5, 2022 by Rowena in Features | 0 Comments

Happy Monday, Everyone!

I took last week off from updating because I was busy applying any and everywhere. I also spent most of the week learning my sister’s job so that I can help her and maybe be hired by her company? Not sure yet but my sister sure wants that to happen so I’ve been knee-deep in real estate forms and learning her systems and I’m not sure if anything will come of it but if anything, it’s been interesting to learn so even if nothing comes of this, I’m not mad about it.

I’ve been watching all of the things, I’m reading again, and trying to balance everything has been a lot of fun. Gah, I’m such a nerd.

Anyway…let’s get into all of the things that I consumed the last two weeks…

What I Watched

When the Weather’s Fine | 3.5 out of 5
Fan Letter, Please | 4 out of 5
Wednesday | 4 out of 5

I’ve watched these three shows in full and enjoyed all of them. Of the three, I think my favorite is a tie between Fan Letter, Please and Wednesday. Wednesday is my favorite. She’s the best.

May I Help You?: WE GOT A KISS! AND TAE HEE STOPPED BEING A BONEHEAD! This week’s episodes were so good! They were good, emotional, and ended on a high! I’m still loving this show hella and it’s still my favorite show that I’m watching and I’m not ready to let these characters go. So much love for these!

Behind Every Star: I can’t say that I’m completely invested in this drama but I will say that I really mess with Jane. She’s my favorite part of this show right now. I like everything about her story. I love her struggles, her position in the company, and seeing her in action. Seeing her try and fail to land Denver from Money Heist as a client was pretty great. I enjoyed the last episode and Denver was the first actor that really interested me and I liked the way that he played himself. Yeah, I like this one and I’mma keep watching it…even if it’s just for Jane.

Revenge of Others: This show is still dark and it’s still whoa but I’m still watching it because I need to know who the hell killed her brother and I’m very interested in seeing where Soo Heon’s issues play out. I’m glad that Chan Mi is over suspecting Soo Heon and I’m liking that she’s finally winning over people and making friends. I still want to spank the shit out of Gi O Sung and Kook Ji Hyun. And Jae Bum? I need to know about him. Is he bad or good?

The First Responders: I’m still rocking with this show. I have enjoyed every single episode that I watched and this week’s episodes were no exception. The cases, the characters, the comraderie, all of it is great.

Reborn Rich: I’ve watched every episode of this show so far and I don’t think I’m enjoying this as much as everyone else is. I started this show because of the hype that surrounded the release. While I do think the premise is interesting, each episode spends a lot of time on shit that I do not care about. I just…don’t know if I’m going to finish this one but I’ll give it one more week to figure out for sure.

Summer Strike: This is another one that I wanted to watch because I’ve seen loads of people on social media enjoying it and I’m just…not there yet. I’ll give this one another week before I make a decision on whether or not to drop it. I’ve been watching a lot of going to smalltowns to heal and figure your life out dramas and movies and I’ve enjoyed those more than I’m enjoying this one. So..hmm.

Extraordinary You: I am obsessed with Lee Jae Wook and have been slowly making my way through his back list of dramas and this one is up. I’ve only watched 3 episodes so far and while I am curious about him, the female lead talks too much for my liking and I find myself wanting to skip all of her parts but shes in like every other minute of every episode so I’ll probably need to watch this in batches.

The Weekly Recap (184)

Two days after my birthday, I was laid off from work. No notice or anything, just a phone call from my boss at 10 am letting me know that the industry is down, our company isn’t bringing in enough money to keep all of our staff and even though I’m one of the best staffers in our department, I was chosen to be let go. She wanted me to know that it wasn’t a performance-based decision, but a financial one. The layoff was immediate and I have two weeks to send my work equipment back to our corporate offices. Tomorrow it’ll be a full week of my being unemployed and even though I’m still reeling from the abrupt nature of my layoff, I’m okay. I pouted for two days, and then I got to work.

I started the process of filing for unemployment (which isn’t really getting me anywhere, gah), I updated my resume, and I took a look at job openings in my area. I compared stay-at-home work with on-site work and looked at what each job and company is offering salary-wise and got a little discouraged because to make what I have grown accustomed to making, I’ll need to get two jobs. But with the help and guidance of some fantastic friends, I have a plan of action in place that will start after the Thanksgiving holiday. That plan of action includes figuring out my own financial situation and calculating how long I have before I’m in dire straits. Fortunately for me, I’m not in dire straits and I won’t need to rush into anything super quick.

I’m going to go home to L.A., spend a week with my Dad, hang out with my family, stream BTS, and then when I get back, I’m going to figure everything else out. I don’t normally talk about my personal life but I needed to get that out so that I can move forward, you know? Anyway, as thrown as I was this week, I still managed to watch all of my dramas…aiain’t nothing coming in between me and my dramas, I guess. Haha.

Now, let’s get into all of the things that I watched last week…

What I Watched

Weak Hero Class 1 | 5 out of 5

I watched this entire show in one sitting. I was that engrossed in everything going on and even though there was a lot of darkness and a lot of shit that pissed me off and frustrated the hell out of me, I really enjoyed this one. I was gripped from beginning to end and I cannot wait for the next season.

Love is for Suckers: I watched the first episode of this week’s two and it’s another week of disappointment on my end, I guess I’m just not very forgiving of stupidity and fucking with peoples lives and after the way that episode 11 ended, I’m just…throwing in the towel on this one. I don’t even care about anything anymore. On to the next…

May I Help You?: So far, this is my favorite show that is active right now. I enjoy this drama so much that I have re-watched the previous episodes multiple times before starting the new episodes. This drama is my jam. So much goodness. Lee Hyeri and Lee Jun Young are such a charming pair and after each episode, I have the cheesiest smile which makes my week. This week’s episodes were no exception. I love love love this show.

Behind Every Star: Hmm, this show is still interesting to me but it’s not without its faults. I thought I’d be a lot more interested in the actors and the different situations at the office but aside from a few of the employees and like one actor, I’m not that interested in everything else. I’ll keep with it for the time being and see if it picks up at all. Fingers crossed.

Revenge of Others: This show is a lot darker than I was expecting. Watching it makes me worry about the kids in Korea because holy shit, the amount of dramas that I’m watching with horrible bullying in the schools is something else. This show may be dark but man is it interesting. Every episode, I’m surprised at how violent and dark this show is but I can’t stop watching so this show ain’t going nowhere on my weekly watch list.

The First Responders: I’m liking this show. I like every one of the mains, especially the cop. He’s fun. It’s a lot of fun watching them figure shit out, fight the good fight, and then clown each other. This is a great addition to my weekly watch lists.

Reborn Rich: Hooked. I am hooked after only watching two episodes. I am looking forward to where the revenge plot takes us because right now, Hyun Woo is me. I am Hyun Woo.

Fan Letter, Please: If this isn’t the cutest show right now, I don’t know what is. I absolutely love these kinds of shows and I’m already a huge fan of the daughter, the Dad, and the actress. I cannot wait to see where the rest of this show takes us. So far, this show is such a delight.

The Weekly Recap (183)

Posted November 14, 2022 by Rowena in Features | 0 Comments

Yesterday was my birthday and I celebrated it exactly the way that my introverted ass wanted. I got dressed up in all of my birthday presents and hung out at home, haha. Bren ordered my meals for the day, I FaceTimed with my Dad, and then I spent the day working on my photocard collection, watching k-dramas, and working on blog posts and it was such a delightful way to spend the day and I am the happiest of campers right now! I’m blessed with another year of life and with the knowledge that I am cared for and loved by loads of people. And yesterday was a big day in these Borahae streets. It was the anniversary of when Namjoon and Yoongi first moved in with each other, and the anniversary of when V coined the term, “I Purple You”. AND…Bangtan dropped the dance practice for Run BTS.

All in all, it was a fantastic day and I loved how low key it was. With the holidays coming up, I’ll be traveling back and forth to California for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so I was really looking forward to relaxing on my own this weekend. I even had a cinnabon birthday cake this year and that is just the perfect icing on my perfect birthday.

Now, let’s get into all of the things that I did last week…

What I Watched

Little Forest | 4.5 out of 5
Minari | 4 out of 5
One Ordinary Day | 4 out of 5
Confidential Assignment | 3.5 out of 5
Rookie Cops | 4 out of 5

I binge-watched two dramas from beginning to end this week and enjoyed the heck out of both of them. I cried so much during One Ordinary Day but I thought that Kim Soo Hyun did such a fabulous job with his entire character arc. That show had me at the edge of my seat throughout the entire thing and my heart went out to him in the end and gah…just so good. Rookie Cops was another delightful drama. I adored all of the characters, loved their whole squad, and even shed some tears but enjoyed the whole thing.

I watched a few movies this week as well and enjoyed all of them. My favorite of the bunch was probably Little Forest. I really enjoyed both Kim Tae Ri and Ryu Joon Yeol in this one.

Bad Prosecutor: This was a fun drama. I enjoyed the entire thing and was bummed that it wrapped up this week. I really enjoyed D.O. and was pretty happy with the entire thing.

Behind Ever Star: Episodes 1 & 2 dropped for this one this week and already, I’m interested. I’m interested in seeing what happens to the company, I’m very interested to see what the heck the connection between Ma Tae Oh and So Hyun Joo is. I’m definitely going to continue this one.

Curtain Call: I got halfway through the third episode and I’m not very interested in what’s going on right now. I thought about continuing in hopes that it’ll pick up for me but ehh, November is going to be busy enough for me without forcing myself to wait for a show to pick up eventually so I dropped this one, my first dropped drama of November.

Love in Contract: This drama ended this week and I was so sad to see it go. I have to come love the hell out of all three main leads and the rest of the cast. This was such a sweet show and I’m SO glad that I watched it.

Love is for Suckers: It’s been a while since I watched an episode and I’m a little sad that the new episodes that dropped this week were a little on the boring side. Actually, not boring but maybe my interest in this show has waned because I still don’t quite like the female lead? Hmm…I’ll finish this one til the end though.

May I Help You?: Holy cow, I’m REALLY loving this show. There were times when I wanted to spank Dong Joo last week but I’m well over all of that now. I adore both of the main leads and when he gave her a ride back to their house and put her arms around his stomach, telling her to hold on tight? *swoon* And don’t even get me started on when he tells her about her hands. AHHHHH, LOVE THIS SO MUCH! Also, holy shit!!! His worlds are colliding! I can’t wait for next week!

The First Responders: I knew that I was going to like this one and after only two episodes, I’m hooked. I am looking forward to sticking with this drama. I’m enjoying all three of the main leads so far.

Revenge of Others: This drama kicked off this week and I’m intrigued. I have a lot of questions just from the first two episodes and they all center around black hoodies and the main male lead. Just in the world is going on??

The Weekly Recap (182)

Posted November 7, 2022 by Rowena in Features | 0 Comments

This year was my first Halloween here in Vegas. I moved here after Halloween in 2020 and then I was in L.A. last Halloween saying bye to my nephews that were leaving on their missions. So it was the first year that I prepared to have my very own Halloween at home. I went to the store, stocked up on candy, and I turned my porch light on and stayed near the front door so I didn’t miss any kids and this is how I looked the entire freaking night…

via GIPHY

Not one damn kid was out trick or treating and not one damn person came to my damn door. NOT ONE. I got ZERO trick-or-treaters. ZERO!!!! Who the hell is gonna eat all of this candy? Sigh. anyway, I’m back on my regular schedule and because it’s getting cold out here, I don’t want to do shit but watch k-dramas and drink hot drinks. It’s soup season so I’m looking forward to eating a whole lot of soups.

Now, let’s get into all of the things that I did last week…

What I Watched

The Policeman’s Lineage | 3 out of 5
Soundtrack #1 | 4 out of 5
Double Patty | 3.5 out of 5
The Bros | 3.5 out of 5

I watched a lot of movies this week and while I liked them, I didn’t LOVE any of them. Oh well. I also re-watched Soundtrack #1 again and really enjoyed that one. I just wish it was longer. Still, Park Hyung Shik is fine as shit and it’s always nice to remember that.

Bad Prosecutor: This is that show. I am loving every little thing about this show. The suspense portion of it, D.O’s acting, and all of the action. Every week, this show just keeps getting better and better and this week wasn’t an exception. This one is so good.

Blind: This show ended this week and it was wild ride from beginning to end. The plot twists were twisting and I was here for it all. All the way up until the end, I had no clue where the story was leading us but that ending? Yeah, that ending was great.

Curtain Call: This is the newest drama to my weekly line up and the first two episodes were a little slow moving but I’m curious enough about where this show takes us that I’ll continue on for the time being. It’s good to see Kang Ha Neul in a new drama though so there’s that.

Gaus Electronics: This show was so damn good and I was sad to say goodbye to it. This cast of characters had me cracking up (out loud) every single week. This show was the right amount of cute, interesting, and silly to catch and keep my attention and I’m going to miss all of these guys.

Love in Contract: Holy cow this drama is so good! I am in love with Jung Ji Ho. He is the perfect imperfect boyfriend and I adore him to pieces. I am also LOVING Kang Hae Jin. Everything that he’s doing to turn his family business around is making me happy swoon all over the place. I can’t wait to see how this show wraps up. It’s been a fun ride.

The Weekly Recap (181)

Happy Halloween!

Stay safe out there if you’re celebrating on the streets this year. Halloween’s not really my thing so I’ll be in the house, probably watching some k-dramas. My thoughts and prayers are with the families that were affected by the sad events in Itaewon over the weekend. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about all of that. Between that and Jin’s military enlistment, I’ve been a giant ball of emotions. So if you’re going out tonight, please, please, please be safe.

I’m back home so this week was for catching up on my rest, catching on my k-dramas, and relaxing in my own space. I’m also all caught up on all things Bangtan and to all of those people that showed up at the airport and were stalking the guys lives…I hope you step on three legos every day for the next 20 years. SMH.

Now, let’s get into all of the things that I did last week…

What I Watched

Twentieth Century Girl | 4 out of 5

Blind: I am finally all caught up on this show and I’m hooked. The way that I can’t figure out who’s good and who’s not and what the heck is going on but I can’t stop watching. The actors and actresses in this show are doing a fantastic job of carrying this story. I’m invested and super curious about how this is all going to pan out so yeah, I’ll be tuning in every week until the very end.

Gaus Electronics: This show is a lot of fun to watch. I’m glad that I added it to my weekly k-drama line up. I’m enjoying the heck out of this one.

The Law Cafe: This show wrapped up this week and I’m a little bummed that the ending dragged for me. The first half of the season was strong and I was totally invested but somewhere along the way, the show lost steam and I lost interest in what was happening. While I did enjoy the show overall, I wasn’t that bothered that the show came to its end.

Love in Contract: This weeks episodes were good ones. I didn’t know that I would enjoy this show as much as I am when I first started watching it. With each passing episode, it gets better and better for me. What an impossible situation to be in for all three leads but they continue to shine through their struggles. Gah, so good.

Bad Prosecutor: I finally started this one and holy shit, this drama is good. It’s my style of drama and I’m here for another drama with DO from Exo leading the story. This has the right amount of mystery, thrills, and humor to keep me coming back for more. I’m all in on this one!

Love is For Suckers: This one is a mess but I’m invested in what is going on. It started off so great. It was cute, it was fun, and I adored the friendship between Yeo Reum and Jae Hoon but then episode 4 and 5 happened and now I want to burn shit down. I’m hooked though so I need to see how it all comes together and fixes itself but gah….the mess! I’m not even going to front, I watched episode 5 screaming, “THAT’S WHAT YOU GET!” But even I feel bad for all the shit going on right now. Gah again.

May I Help You?: I started this drama this week and I’m glad that I did. I love Lee Hyeri and would watch her read her grocery list if she released it. I’m super glad that this show has an interesting premise and I already love Hyeri’s character so much. I’ll continue to watch it to see everything unfold.
