This past week, I’ve read quite a bit of historical romances and I’m not even a little bit mad about it. I’m reading some great romances so I guess I want to keep the historical party going. I haven’t started this one yet but I will be reading this one tonight and I can’t wait.

My favorite read of the week is probably my re-read of The Deal by Elle Kennedy because damn that Garrett Graham but of the new reads, hands down my favorite read is Dukes Prefer Blondes by Loretta Chase. That was such a fun book with a steamy romance that had me sighing and laughing all over the damn place. So freaking good!

My least favorite read of the week goes to Did I Mention I Love You by Estelle Maskame. I think I’m starting to get over YA’s and while that makes me sad, there is still plenty of things for me to read so I’m sure I’ll be okay.

I think I found my end of the year reading stride because I got some damn books read this week. Yay me! My review pile is slowly dwindling and I haven’t picked up or requested very many of eARCs in the last couple of weeks because I really want to get my review pile down. I’m crossing my fingers that I can knock some more out this week. Wish me luck!

I’m trying not to request any new review books until I finish with the books that I already have but dude!! It’s D’s book and Jill Shalvis is writing a new series for Avon. That’s like some Christmas shit right there so I’m all over these two! I can’t wait to dig into these books.

It’s been a really quiet week in books for me. I’m not sure if it’s the end of the year book blues or what but for some reason, I’m just not in the mood to read. I’ve been watching Greys Anatomy in my spare time and I never thought there’d come a day when I’d want to pick that show up again but there you go.

Alex Dawn is saying no to men. No to bad relationships, disappointments, and smooth-talkers. Focusing on her family and her job at Payton and Sons Automotive keeps her mind occupied and her heart content. She doesn’t really miss a man’s touch, until one night, a man shows up with the body of a god and a voice from her dirtiest dreams.

Alright, so I used to keep track of all of my book related things. What I’m reading, read, reviewed and got each week so I’m bringing that over to this blog. Some things will never change. So here’s my week in Books.

Rick Gullotti lives the good life. He fights fires, dates beautiful women—though none long enough so they cast wistful glances at jewelry stores—and has great friends. And thanks to helping out the elderly couple who own his building, his rent is low. But when concerns about their health lead him to contact their only son, his life starts getting away from him.

Jessica Broussard has no interest in leaving sunny San Diego or her cushy corner office for Boston, but her father—who happens to be her boss—dispatches her to deal with the grandparents she’s never met. She’s unprepared for the frigid winter, loving relatives who aren’t the monsters she’s been led to believe, and the hot, scruffy firefighter who lives upstairs.

At first, Jessica is determined to get back to her comfortable life as quickly as possible. All she has to do is talk her grandparents into selling their monstrosity of a house and moving to a retirement community. But she underestimates Rick’s dedication—and his considerable charm. This is the second book in the Boston Fire series by Shannon Stacey and one thing that I’ve noticed after finishing the first book in this series is that her heroines drive me up the freaking wall. I want to neck Lydia (teenage slang for smack them in the neck for doing something stupid) so many freaking times in Heat Exchange. The book ended up being good, but there were a lot of things that got on my nerves.

I’m now reading this book and haven’t gotten too far into the story but I’m crossing my fingers that Jessica is a lot better than the last few Stacey heroines that I read. So far, so good.

Seven Nights to Surrender by Jeanette Grey: This was a great freaking read for me. It took me a long time to read it but that was because I wasn’t in the mood to read but once I settled in, I came to love the heck out of both Rylan and Kate. I can’t wait to jump into the next book in this series.

Heat Exchange by Shannon Stacey: This was a quick read and ended up being a 3 star read for me. The romance was kind of ridiculous in the sense that all of the secrets and behind the back banging made me roll my eyes. The brother’s reaction to the news of Aidan and Lydia was over the top and don’t even get me started on Lydia’s attitude toward everything. More than once, I wanted her to just shut up. Still, I enjoyed the other characters and am mighty curious to see how everyone else’s stories come together.

Didn’t get anything new this week. I’m still playing catch up on last month’s review books so I’m taking a hiatus on new books until I get caught up. Maybe next week.
